Interesting, but doubtful if the PA would be down with that. At least if you replace the pitcher with a DH you’re creating more positions to fill.

Oh they'd never go for it it's not realistic but that is one way to not have a pitcher hit and also get the best players up more.

NYY lost 2 of our aces to injury with pitchers running the bases (Wang - career ended pretty much, Tanaka DL stint). I'll always hate it.
Wang looked to be a solid starter before the injury if I recall. Crazy sinker/2 seam that players repeatedly could do nothing but wack straight down. Economical as well due to pitching to contact, seemingly a lost art these days. Shame.

I guess the perfect pitcher for you is Bartolo Colon.
Adam Wainwright's career also went down ever since hurting himself while batting.

Forget about the injury prevention aspect - pitchers can't hit the ball and never will.

I think it's a topic AL (injury prevention, quality of at-bats) vs. NL (more strategy, tradition) fans will never agree on.

Elite pitcher with a 3K/9IP in his peak, his sinker was godly at YS.

i have no problem letting Lynn go longer. If our lineup wasnt in the habit of making journeymen starters look like peak Greg Maddux, that homerun probably doesnt hurt as much.Yeah he left him in probably too long, but our offense should be smacking this rotation around the park

Odd move bringing Adams in after we get a run back.Off day tomorrow, use your big guns.Thats on Boone.

17 years into my MLB The Show career, I have a 236.5 WAR and one World Series ring.

f*** every teammate I've ever had.

Jeff McNeil is looking more and more like a keeper. Love it.

The Mets will have a problem next year as Bruce, Flores, possibly Cespedes, and maybe Alonso will all need reps at 1B. And there's also a logjam in the OF.

OF: Conforto, Nimmo, Bruce, Cespedes, whoever else is on the team
1B: Bruce, Cespedes, Flores, Alonso, Smith?

As a Mets fan I'm not sure I agree. Some of our pitchers are better hitters than their teammates. Meanwhile we've had an outfielder whose arm fell off swinging a bat and an infielder who fouled a ball off his nose. Freak injuries are just that.

For an above average hitting line up the Yankees bats go quiet against average to below average starters way too often, even before the injuries. They’re either too streaky and constantly going cold in groups leaving pitchers with 4 or 5 soft landing spots in the line up, or some teams have game planned them really well- ‘hey guys check this I figured out dem Yankees hitters, just don’t leave the ball out over the plate and try to make em chase’.

I’m available part time to Manage, pm me all job offers.

They need to try and trade Bruce, first off.

Yeah for sure. Thing is, I can't imagine anyone taking him without the Mets picking up substantial cash. And I don't see that happening. The team is willing to spend a decent amount on players actually playing for them, but when it comes to trades they never pick up any money. Or, very rarely.

I would just like for Cashman to do SOMETHING. Whether it is OF help with McCutchen/Jones/Granderson or Smoak. DO SOMETHING. This is insane

I doubt Cespy gets any meaningful time next season.

I think Smith will be gone as well.

Which is why the interleague games should be be removed.

Why get rid of Smith? I understand he may not be good, but he has no value right now. No sense just kicking him to the curb. If nothing else let him try to rebuild some value in Syracuse.
