Was this a reply to me? Cause I literally said McCann would be a big upgrade over what they have. But Ramos is gone. He isn’t even in the picture.

And I never said I don’t like McCann. But anytime you are giving a big multi year deal to a guy who had 1 good season it’s a risk. Maybe he’s ready to break out but often that 1 year was an outlier

watching highlights of mccann throw out runners..if they do sign him. it will be amazing to actually have a catcher with a better than 0% chance to throw out a run lol

No it was a reply to @SA16, I even quoted him. Unless you can't see him.

I do agree with this but I would caution that some of the Mets pitchers are so bad at holding runners on (Syndergaard/Matz/Betances) that it won’t make that huge of a difference.

Get McCann, Springer, Bauer and call it a day.

They do that a batting order of:

Springer- CF
McNeil-2B
Conforto-RF
PAlonso-1B
DSmith-DH
JD Davis-3B
JMcCann-C
BNimmo-LF
AGiminez-SS

And a rotation of:

JdeGrom
TBauer
MStroman
DPeterson
SLugo
Thor when comes back mid-season
Matz spot starts and long relief

And a Bullpen of:

EDiaz
TMay
JFamilia
MCastro
BBrach
Gsellman

Put all that together, stay relatively healthy and I'd have no problemo going to war with that team and giving the Braves a bigtime run for their money for the division. I most definitely wouldn't want to have to face this lineup and rotation in a short series in the playoffs.

Bauer, Springer and McCann....get er done Stevie!...

Good news and bad news for the Yankees.

Michael Brantley would be perfect for this team (besides his injury issues) but he's not worth losing LeMahieu for. Hopefully Cohen builds some great teams and forces the Yankees to spend money.

Prime Pudge couldn’t throw out a base stealer at 3rd if Betances is pitching

4 years for McCann. Sheesh.

Not ideal for sure giving him 4 years but if McCann who doesn't even need to perform at his career best 2020 pace, can even be the .270-20-60 McCann of 2019, I'd take it and I'm positive the Mets would as well, even with his penchant for striking out a bit much.

Now get Springer and Bauer call it an offseason and get ready for spring training!

There is absolutely zero chance McCann can be a .270-20 hitter over a few years without major changes to his game. His 2019 was purely BABIP fueled.

OK maybe .270 is a bit overzealous on my part considering some of McCann's peripherals but I'd take .250 to be honest with 18-20 bombs and 60-65 or so ribs from my catcher.

That is quite attainable and realistic in what should be a loaded Met lineup.

Has there been anything else on McCann? The last I saw was 4-5 days ago talking about the Mets showing serious interest.

Not that I've seen. Andy Martino said on 11/30 that the Mets, at the moment, were more interested in McCann than Realmuto. Other have regurgitated the same thing, essentially.

Exactly.

Give him 4 years expecting 19/20 production and you'll regret that contract very early in year 2.

Where would we even put Brantley?

For a team trying so hard to pinch pennies, they don't seem overly concerned with having like twice as many players as they need.
