This is not good, Max....we're disagreeing a lot more lately.
Huh...what are you talking about? Being in agreement is way overrated.
When Gordon Gekko said "greed is good" he also said "disagreeing is even better"!

As I mentioned before, Max....as a long-suffering Tribe fan, I would be very leery of Bauer. I can't put it into words, but the closest I can come is "WARNING, WILL ROBINSON: DANGER!! DANGER!!!"Well according the NY Post...it's a done deal...Trevor May is a Met!!.
I like it. I like it ALOT!!.
Now if the Mets get Bauer and either/or Realmuto or Springer, I'm a very happy camper. I'd love to have all three of them and sure add in Lindor what the heck. But realistically, if we end up with Bauer, Springer or Realmuto and May as our 3 big moves, I think we can compete with the Braves for the division.
I'm not saying we'd beat the Braves out but compete with them...most definitely. And no doubt we are a playoff team and a damn dangerous team that if I were the Mets opponent, I'd not be all to thrilled with the prospects of having to deal with deGrom, Bauer and Stroman. Hopefully Noah will be fine by than as well but to have to deal with those kinds of arms in a short series...yikes!!
I wasn't a fan of Familia when he was supposedly good....I have a problem with "firemen" closers who start their own fires. As I said...I'd keep Familia as a depth arm as he does have pretty decent stuff. Now if May actually does come here that could indirectly help Famila as he could be put in much less volatile and important situations as say as a 6th inning type guy.
That said, if he was dealt or something, I'd not be crying at all about it.

There are so many pitchers you can watch and feel confident they'll get the job done. NEVER felt that way with Bauer. No matter how well he pitched, I always felt the roof would fall in with every pitch he made. Oddly enough, I felt the same about Kluber -- although I'd take him over Bauer 999 times out of 1000.Wow...the old "Lost In Space" Danger Danger Will Robinson line...nice. Brings back fond memories of rainy day after school TV watching....
Maybe cause I owned Bauer in fantasy the past two years in my longtime dynasty league and probably have seen 90% of his starts, I feel as if I know what the Mets would be getting as much as you.
Yeah he's a bit of a quirky guy and yeah he'll likely enjoy the bright lights of NYC but on the field, the guy has some filthy filthy stuff.
And so as a #2 starter, he'd be perfect to slot in behind deGrom

Bauer has had two great years and several mediocre years. I know I was recently reassured that he will be great moving forward because he works harder and tinkers or whatever more than anyone else, but I'm leery of a long term commitment to him. If he reverts to the guy with a career xFIP of 4 and we're paying him a gazillion dollars per year over five years, that's gonna suck, even with Cohen Cash. I'd rather take him up on his stated goal of one-year deals.
Didn't realize he only wanted one-year deals....that could work (although no deal would be better). Anything long would be an unmitigated disaster.Bauer has had two great years and several mediocre years. Well, he has always said that--that once he hit UFA he would maximize his value by signing only one-year deals. The logic behind it is understandable. However, in this climate where it's expected that the market will be depressed for who knows how long, and when he just won a Cy Young, it's totally possible he opts to take the security of a deal for multiple years. Tough to know what he'll do, and what kinds of offers will be out there.Didn't realize he only wanted one-year deals....that could work (although no deal would be better). Shows how much I tuned him out....if he takes long term deal, I'm sure it will be with a West Coast team. I seem to recall initial speculation was that he wanted to play near home (which I think is in San Diego area).Well, he has always said that--that once he hit UFA he would maximize his value by signing only one-year deals. My other hesitation to signing him is that he's a total douchebag.Shows how much I tuned him out....if he takes long term deal, I'm sure it will be with a West Coast team. I seem to recall initial speculation was that he wanted to play near home (which I think is in San Diego area).

Jurado, Shreve, Sewald, and Tropeano were non-tendered.Matz avoids arbitration:
Matz signed a one-year, $5.2 million contract with the Mets on Wednesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

I believe BVW was still here when Tropeano was claimed. It might have been his last move, along with claiming Barnes which I think was the same day. I guess Sandy wasn't a fan?not that the mets ever make sense and not like he matters but why claim tropeano off waivers to then non-tender him a month later
The Mets have Smith, who was one of the best hitters in the game last year after turning a corner in 2019, and Alonso. So they either have two 1Bs or a 1B and DH. The Mets need a CF who can play defense and a C.Kyle Schwarber was a non tender. I was surprised to see no one was interested in even dealing for him. It really says something about the uncertainty in the market. Yankees already have multiple DH’s but he might be a fit for the Mets if the NL is sticking with the DH. He’d probably be a relatively cheap middle of the order bat. He could be a major rebound candidate. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cubs shop Bryant either.

Yup. I do this:they also potentially don't have a position for rosario with Gimenez and Mauricio the top prospect...and then if one of them moves to 2b for defense, then where do davis or mcneil play?
the last thing the mets need is a DH. most of the team is terrible defensively and should be a DH lol
