Well there's a really good chance the Yankees will just lose in the first round.

But this season is really weird and anything could happen so you're telling me there's a chance?.

The whole season feels less than legitimate. I said it before it started. 60 games is not enough in baseball. Hockey did a good job. The NFL is playing a full season. I don't really follow the NBA but I guess they did good, as well. Baseball forcing a compressed 60-game schedule with crazy rules was stupid and I will never think much of anything that happened this year.

Hey look it was (mostly) nice being able to watch some baseball during a time like this but I've always agreed. The owners and players were so busy fighting each other over everything this spring that this is all they could come up with. It was a piss poor job. For people who are more in tune with time rather than numbers. In a normal baseball season the 60th game usually takes place around the first week of JUNE! June man.

You have the expanded playoffs which now has lead to a team in each league (Asstros, Brewers) making the playoffs with under .500 records. That's embarrassing. The man on second rule in extra innings and the 7 inning double headers were stupid gimmicks. On a positive note, I personally like the DH for both leagues and from what I saw, the pace of play was a little quicker this year with less time in between innings and pitches. I also like the three batter rule.

On the Yankees front. I think fans that are hoping for Boone/Cashman to be relieved of their duties are going to be severely disappointed. I doubt they get fired after a 60 game season no matter how it turned out. For game one, I just hope they don't get no-hit by Beiber.

Colorado gave Daniel Murphy the same deal LeMahieu got from the Yankees. Oops.
Tough one for Colorado. He was there for seven-plus years and had an OPS+ above 100 exactly once...while playing half his games at Coors. I mean he was still a very good player regardless, but I don't think anyone could have seen him taking off the way he did.

The Murphy deal did suck. It's funny because Murphy and DJ (to this point) have followed similar trajectories. Murphy was very good with the Mets and then signed that deal with WAS and had two huge years. DJ very good (more glove-dependent) with COL then explodes with Yankees. Hopefully DJ doesn't fall off a cliff like Danny did.

Pretty much my feeling as well. I would say that I was shocked at how disinterested I was down the stretch, but the combination of hockey (see avatar) and expanded playoffs, among other things, really aided that feeling.

Maybe if the Yankees get to the ALCS I might feel it a bit more. As it is...it's not like I don't care if they win or not, I'm just not sure I would be that devastated if they lose to Cleveland or TB/Toronto (maybe if they lost to the Jays) because I've said from the outset that, even if they won the World Series this year, it just wouldn't feel like it would in a more proper season.

I would definitely expect fans of teams in the postseason to be excited. I wouldn't try to tell anyone to be apathetic, like I was. For me, though, I just couldn't get into it from the start. I mean normally the Mets suck but I'm still interested in what's going on around the league, but I honestly don't care.

I get you. I probably flat-out didn't watch more Yankee games this season than I've missed in the last several seasons. I mean, usually when I don't see a game live, I watch it on tape delay afterwards. Done it dozens of times. This time around, especially in the last month of the season, if I didn't see a game live...I just didn't end up watching it at all. I couldn't be bothered to go back later and see what I missed. The interest and desire just wasn't there.

And that's the Yankees. I usually watch a lot of baseball in general and I hardly watched anything in September. Whether 2021 will be a return to "normal" or not, I have no idea. I would like to think my interest in what was originally my favorite sport isn't dying, but, who knows, maybe it is.
