Yanks stunk last night,no other way to put it...but 1 game ago they won 12-1 without hitting a single homer...so it shows they can produce without the all or nothing approach.Defense was also horrific last night, led by Sanchez and a guy who would be the everyday dh if it wasn't for Stanton-Voit..he's atrocious defensively.
They aren’t that team that hits in all situations and selflessly adjust their approach to a given situation. They don’t do it consistently enough. And it always burns them when push comes to shove against good pitching. They can get away with it against bad pitching. Yeah, great they beat the bad teams that they’re supposed to but that isnt a legitimate indicator, and shouldnt be, of how they will be against better teams. Its poor assessment.

And yes their defense has been woefully bad. All over. I assume you’re singling out Frazier, who has not been bad out there this year. Much improved. He had a bad read off the bat last night. It happens. The whole team was trash, especially the idiot Sanchez.

well Trevor Bauer is going to cash in as a UFA. finishes his year with a 1.73 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 100 Ks which are all currently 1st in the NL, 2nd in the majors. He probably wins the cy young...

given the mets need for starting pitching, I'm sure that he is praying for the sale to go thru as much as Realmuto so uncle stevie and his $$ are in place...even if they sign somewhere else, that probably raises the market.

Sanchez is such a dumb and bad baseball player. He has some raw talent but he wastes it. 1-1 count and he taking a massive hack at a fastball right down the middle with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out. As opposed to cutting down his swing and focusing on contact for a ball in play. Then the very next pitch he chases in the dirt for strike 3.

And this after trying to snipe Vladdy at 1st with a 2 strike count and 2 outs, throwing it wide, and giving Toronto another run.

Dumb idiot.
It's time to send Sanchez packing. He's been bad for a long time now. All it takes is one GM to believe in his "potential" and we could get a decent piece for him. Cashman needs to get on the phone in the offseason.

God he's such a tool, I will hate it if they sign him, regardless of how good he is or how much of a need he fills. I also don't think he's nearly as good as his top-line numbers this short season suggest, and if you sign him to a big deal at 30 you'll be regretting it in a couple years when he's back to a guy with an ERA at 4+.

They've scored a bunch of runs lately against teams with crappy pitching. Not many teams like that in the playoffs.
Half the teams are in the playoffs this year so I'm not sure about that. Until yesterday the Yanks were seeded against the Twins but now it's the white sox. After that there's a chance the Yanks will play the Jays again in the ALDS, which would be weird.

Well lucky for any interested teams, he will only continue to sign one-year deals going forward.

I hope the Yankees sign Bauer. Get rid of Paxton / let him walk. Happ can go too. Use the money to sign Bauer. Consider re-signing Tanaka.
He's had seven years in the majors. Five of those years he's had an ERA over 4.18 and four of them an xFIP over 4.13. He's basically had four mediocre years, a good year, and two great years (with this great year coming in 11 starts). He had a ridiculous 91% strand rate and .215 BABIP. He has great stuff but those numbers are completely unsustainable and he has never been close to them in his career. Turning 30, contract year, career year.

He strikes me as the type of guy you sign and he immediately reverts to his career norms, where he is a good but not great pitcher, and yet someone is going to pay him a shit-ton of money. This isn't because I don't like the dude--just looking at his profile, unless he's one of those rare Max Scherzer-types who hit their prime in their 30+ years, he looks like a bad investment.

Ha, right. We'll see what happens if/when someone offer him $30+ million for five-plus years or whatever. I would think he's a smart enough guy to know that we he did this year isn't likely to be repeated moving forward (particularly over full seasons) and that his value would be maximized by locking in now. Who knows, though. He's a strange guy.

Yeah I mean normally I would call BS too but man, while I don't like a lot of his views/beliefs, Bauer is a different cat and he did say again in early August that he plans to continue signing one year deals because he wants to be on a contender every year. Now I could see him signing a three year deal for a team that he feels would be a contender for the next three years. I guess we shall see.

Yeah personally I think it's ridiculous, but if anyone were to be dead serious about that and stick with his guns, it would be Bauer.

Maybe you should go back and actually read what you wrote because it was worded poorly and not very clear who you were referring to.

I also didn’t put words in your mouth at all, just made an inference based on again what you said. You referenced how they won 12-1 the other night without a single homer as if to say “hey they aren’t a free swinging all or nothing” team for the majority of that lineup. And again that stance was taken in response to me pretty much calling them that. Not sure how else one should translate your opinions about the team, it was pretty straightforward how it came out. Maybe a different angle should have played if you do acknowledge this a lineup with a lot of shortcomings due to their approach at the plate, as it has been for the last 3-4 seasons.

I suggest you go back and read my original post as i mentioned both Sanchez and Voit.I couldnt be anymore clear when i singled both out

It's ridiculous that there's any noise about Cohen's confirmation not being a sure thing. He has too much money and might spend it while the sports industry is experiencing a downturn? What kind of BS is that.

That being said I am sure he will be confirmed, but as a Mets fan you never know.

I will always hold a piece of that Mets fan doom within me until proven otherwise.

Maybe if you put a comma in there after Stanton, it wouldn’t look like you are saying the DH position is being blocked by a combination of Stanton and Voit. Which is plausible considering Voit’s foot problem.

Sure, I agree, Voit is terrible defensively.

Monte needs to step up tonight and give a solid 6 innings against a good lineup.Hopefully the team defense is much better tonight too

A 3-0 bunt with nobody on??been watching baseball for close to 40 years and I've never seen that before.

Voit needs a game off, they mentioned he's played 35 straight games with a bad foot and he's scuffling
