Strasburg or Cole? The Yankees really need to get one of them. Either of them leading a rotation with Paxton, Severino, German and Tanaka is drool worthy. Jettison Happ into the sun.
i think the rumor is that strasburg isn't even gonna talk to other teams...he is opting out so he can sign a bigger/longer contract with the nats

Not happy with this. It's money that could address other needs.
Since we are a budget team now, we have to make smarter financial decisions.
Yes, he could've gotten more money on the open market, but you shouldn't be paying 20mil to relievers unless it's an undisputed GOAT like Mariano. You shouldn't trade for them either - or you'll end up giving up guys like Torres and Kelenic.
Cashman is losing the plot.
It doesn't change anything for the next 2 seasons budgetwise. By that time the current cba will have expired.

I like it. I believe he can still be effective even with slightly diminishing velocity over the next three seasons. Literally just extended an extra year with that year being the only increase in AAV.

I think this is too good to be true unfortunately. He is Ellsbury 2.0.
Is this referring to Stanton? Yeah, the Yankees are stuck with him unless we absorb a horrendous contract like the Hosmer.
He is going to play here for the duration of his contract, unless he gets home sick, opts out and signs with a Cali team.

I don't think Stanton is movable right now, unless they absorbed so much money in such a bad contract that it wouldn't be a great deal anyway.
However, if he hits 45 homers, 125 RBI's, and they still don't win then I could see him being movable. Watch we'll have all this talk and he'll have an A-Rod 2009 run.

His long term health makes me nervous...
I'd have a hard time handing him 6 or so years, and you know someone will.
I'd rather sign Cole.
