The difference was the Astros seemed to be able to land that hurtful blow while the Yankees didn’t. Plus BABIP luck.
Don't forget the defense that the Astros played in Game 6. Had they not made just one of those outstanding plays, the game and series could have been different.

The Yankees though probably weren’t as good as their record. I mean winning 103 games with all those injury replacements in their for seemingly half the season is probably something they don’t duplicate again. I actually felt if you don’t compare the bullpen the Mets offense and starting pitching is actually better than the Yankees

The Mets offense isn’t in the same league.

Can the Mets ever throw us a bone? Can they ever just do something the fans want even if they are on the fence? I mean, I know some of us burned them with clamoring to re-sign Cespedes, but come on.

Girardi is solid but this is nothing to lose your shit over.

Deluded

Stanton is owed $244 million on a contract that runs through 2027. What a disaster.
I mean, he was hitting at a 35 HR, 120 RBI pace with the limited action he saw this season. If he can hit .250 with 40 dingers and 100 RBI's, the Yankees could do way worse.

That's a really shit hot take.

Everyone hit 35 homers this year. He contributes nothing in any other aspect of the game. Also it's not like he's going to get less injury prone as he ages.

The Yankees don't have enough players who raise their level of play in big moments. The late 90s teams had plenty of those guys. Coincidentally the Rangers post lockout playoff teams had the same problem.
Give me a 2-1 playoff OT game or give me hell

I read the cliff notes of Cashman's press conference yesterday, seems to me he's laying the groundwork for people to not get their hopes up about spending big in the offseason

Or at least that's how I read it

Wouldn't surprise me. Steinbrenner's sons care more about the bottom line than they do winning championships.

I expect he knows Cole will go to Anaheim but he has to sign Wheeler or Bumgarner. And let’s face it. If Washington wins (which it looks they will) Strasburg probably opts out. He’s the guy I would really go after. If they pay Rendon they probably won’t sign Stras if he opts out

Everyone said the same thing about CC until the Yankees stepped in and blew him away with an offer.

The Yankees should at least give Cole a competitive offer. Something like 8/275. If Cole STILL decides he wants to go to Cali, then so be it. Can't fault the Yankees in that case.

Why Stras over Cole? To me, it's Cole because he's more durable, has thrown for 200 innings or more multiple times compared to Stras, younger, and AL proven.

No mention of Corbin. Postseason ERA North of 5. If he was a Yankee he'd be mercilessly bashed on here.
