The Yankees roster looks like a video game simulation: Ungodly home run numbers, weird injuries taking out half the team, etc.

Really wishing we'd been able to sign Cole in 2008, or trade for him a few years back. He's like Yankees version of Brendan Shanahan - always on the radar, really close at times, but not meant to be at various points in time.

It's likely gonna cost them a possible World Series this year...ugh.

On another note, last night's game was great (I was at a DC area bar with hilarious Nats fans) and it reminded me once again how thankful I am and how lucky the Yankees were that Mariano Rivera was their closer for all those years.

was the only closer in the 2009 playoffs not to blow a save.

I can't remember which year it was (might've been 2009) but within the first 2 games if the respective LDS, every closer blew a lead. It was quite insane.

Also anybody watching the AL wild card game and loves statcast, switch to ESPN2 for a superior baseball broadcast to ESPN.

Crazy how much better the ESPN2 broadcast has been.

Thought he was great as a FOX analyst during the 2015 playoffs.

He's awkward as **** on ESPN.
I am thoroughly convinced ESPN just hands the broadcasters a list of talking points and hold a gun to their heads in order to get them to talk about it.

When he's on YES for Yankees games, he's just so casual and super informative. It's night and day.

Yeah I heard him when he did a couple of innings on YES and he was much better with Cone and Kaye then his ESPN stuff. Frankly I think he's best when he's doing the pre/post game stuff and he doesnt have to think off the cuff as much.

Again, I'll say I'm really enjoying the ESPN2 version of the broadcast. Benetti, Perez, and Petriello have been excellent just as a casual listen and then on top of it, they do a good job of integrating the stats into the convo.

Thank f***. Was worried they wouldn't.

Now I'll just worry they'll hire Jim Harbaugh because Jeff Wilpon loves UM so much

Had to feel this was inevitable. New GM, didn't pick the manager, didn't always see eye to eye with the decisions being made.

Have a feeling Brodie wants to get someone with more name power to manage this roster. Maddon sounds like an option, although his handling of Chapman makes me think Lugo wouldn't make it past the end of May.

Girardi was rumored mid-season and have to think he's going to be the early favorite.

The interesting one that came up this morning was Beltran. Boone beat him out of the Yankees job and while he is in the Yankees organization, you have to wonder if this is a spot for him to come in. Now, the Wilpons will have to make amends with him. That break up wasn't the most gracious we've ever seen. On top of that, maybe he can man CF next season.

Beltran intrigues me.

To me he is more likely than Girardi or Showalter. Just look at that story Puma wrote today that Jeff Wilpon was behind Diaz being limited early this year. I can’t see those veteran guys being willing to come here hearing stuff like that

Riggleman not being back strongly indicates to me there’s very little chance Beltrán, Rojas, Cone would be strongly considered. They would probably leave him there for his experience if they were going with a first year manager

Dallas Keuchel starts game 1 for the Braves.

Not good enough for the Yankees though!
