His 2 prior HR off Paxton came off 96MPH fastballs.

3-2 you're probably sitting dead red fastball, plus he got a lot of swing and miss on the slider from the last 2 batters, so it was cooking last night.
I dont care how his slider was cooking.

3-2 count you go with your best pitch which is his 100 mph fastball. And it should have been inner half and up. If he beats you then you tip your cap.

Awful job.

wasn't his best pitch last night. only 1 whiff on his fastball compared to 3 whiffs on the slider and 3 strikes taken on the slider. the 2 strikeouts of Wendel and Adames were on the slider. Herredia and Kiermayers hits came off of fastballs, Hererdia turned around 101 up and in. His FB didn't have the life last night.

he threw a pretty good back door slider and got beat...if it was a fastball that got hit for a HR the narrative would still be nO AdJuStMeNts, having hit 2 HR off fastballs to the opposite field in teh game already.

How much do teams pay for 1 WAR? I often wonder if certain teams find players who just absolutely kill them and think, 'should we just overpay this guy in UFA and then send him to Japan just so we have a better chance of winning 2-3 more games this year because he wont kill us?'
The Yankees would be like 33-time World Champions if they signed Delmon Young and never played him.

Not particularly related to anything but Juan Lagares is having one of the worst seasons I've seen from a Met in a long time. Quite literally amongst the bottom percentiles amongst position players in the entire league.

158 PA

.175/.242/.252 for a .494 OPS

.215 wOBA and a 33 wRC+

-1.3 fWAR

And he doesn't field as well as he used to either.

This would have been my dream for Blake Comeau

A player who is friendly with Aroldis Chapman told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic that the left-hander is "one million percent" planning to opt out of his contract after this season.

Chapman would be forfeiting two years and $30 million, but he probably figures he can get another year or two tacked on at a similar average annual value. Heck, the Yankees might even be willing to do that via an extension before the opt-out deadline. The 31-year-old has posted a 2.45 ERA and 53/12 K/BB ratio in 36 2/3 innings this season and he's currently tied for the American League lead in saves with 25.

The Yankees need to be careful giving him too many years. He has already lost some heat on his fastball.

they'll probably work something out like they did with Sabathia years ago. yeah the FB has lost some velocity but he's reinvented himself with the slider so it's not that much of a concern.

Just my opinion but I don't really see him getting a better deal than he already has. If I understand Kimbrel's deal (they are the same age) he is getting 16x2+a club option while Chapman is getting 15x2.

A move in advance of moving out another AAA OF in a separate deal?

September call-up to steal bases, and a possible spot on the playoff roster I would guess. Usually a deal you could make in August, but can't anymore.
