The Yankees really need to throw money at an ace. Tanaka has proven to be inconsistent. Severino has looked very hittable in the past month. And a bunch of question marks after that.
The Yankees really need to gut the entire farm for Jake DeGrom
If Sonny Gray never pitches another game for the Yankees, I would be okay with this scenario.
They would not be where they are if not for "prospect hugging". Cashman has no need to pay a Yankees tax. They finally stop sending all of their prospects to other teams and now people can't wait for the to empty the farm. Cashman did not like the asking price. Full stop. That is not hugging anyone but the organization. He did not want to overpay, plain and simple. Finally, the Yankees are thinking with the long term horizon in mind. Which may run counter to the instant gratification level of some fans and the decisions that they would make if they were the GM.There is not one to be had via Free Agency this winter.
They need to trade for one instead of prospect hugging this time around.

There is only one thing that Cashman needs to do. And that is to stay the course.
And you know this how? I think Frazier has a great chance to play next year. You are offering your view of the situation. Clearly Cashman has a different opinion than you and did not want to trade Frazier. Maybe he thinks that there is a spot for him. There is no long term horizon in which we will see Chance Adams and likely Clint Frazier ever start for this team.
The former is not a starting pitcher, the latter just doesn't have a spot on the team.
We've gone around the mulberry bush on this. I ask you how can you know this. You site the mighty "source". So are you stating that your source was in the room where it happened? As I recall, the answer was no. Of course, you also back track and say that that you are no so sure how much you can trust this source, but yet you think that you should. So what you are offering is conjecture based on someone's conjecture. You know what he could have gotten for those 2? A front of the rotation starter, which is what they need more than anything and they don't have one in the system, at least one that is close to participating.

Geez, if I'm a sports agent, I'm demanding that any of my clients completely expunge their social media before signing with me. Just delete the entire history or even the entire account and just start over as soon as you make the big leagues.
This-Never-happened.
It wasn’t even seriously discussed. Just because some journalist said it doesn’t make it true.
And that journalist reported that Neil Huntington asked for Torres and wouldn't back off of him and the trade never happened.
So who's more believable? Media with credentials, or some random on a fan board who doesn't have access?
I'll go with the former.
Torres was never part of discussion. Yankees clearly made it known he was untouchable.
Journalist was wrong.
One of the very few times where I'll be able to say this, but I had better access than he did.
You had more access than Jon Heyman.
RIGHT.
