We trade for a guy and he gives up 1 run. Red Sox trade for a guy and he gives up 0 runs.
Just sums up the season.
The guy the Sox traded for won’t be pitching zeros for the rest of the year.
Happ won’t throw up 1’s either, but I’d feel much more comfortable about him throwing quality starts when it matters.
I too prefer Happ to Eovaldi.
Just thought it was poetic given how things have gone this year with the Red Sox.
They’ve been mediocre against good teams.
I smell another alds knock out for them.
Eovaldi was a solid pitcher when fully healthy. We saw it for years as Yankees fans.We trade for a guy and he gives up 1 run. Red Sox trade for a guy and he gives up 0 runs.

Wouldn't go that far. Look at the logo he plays for.Hope Eovaldi throws zeros rest of the way because he deserves it. Copped a lot of **** from the Yankees fans.

But I do hope he bounces back next yr for another team.
his splits are weird and there's enough IP and years to say it's more than bad luck but his ERA does go "all the way" to 3.22 in August and 3.78 in Sept/Oct...
guy's been a workhorse his whole career going 200+ IP basically every year of his career so it's probably fatigue. if sox are smart they'll rest him and limit his innings more down the strettch if the division lead calls for it.
He’s still throwing a ton of pitches and even if they dial it back a bit he’ll just wear down in sept/oct instead of August.

After trading for more international bonus pool space, the Yankees today signed Osiel Rodriguez for $600,000, as @jorgeebro reported.
Rodriguez is the No. 1 international pitching prospect this year
Loving what Cash is doing. Moves like these could pay huge dividends in a couple years. If both Rodriguez and Sheffield end up developing to what they should be then our rotation is going to be deadly down the road.
He throws a ton of pitches because he throws a ton of innings. There's no bigger workhorse in the league. So, if they limit those and even give him a few starts off that should help. But **** it, he's on Boston so hopefully his arm falls off....
He averaged just under 7 innings in 32 starts last year. Drew Pomeranz had the same amount of starts and only averaged 5.4 innings a start for them. And per you their bullpen is very bad, so Sale essentially assures them 7 innings of ball where they can win the game and only have to worry about the setup guy and Kimbrel that night
4-5 years since Osiel is 16 but yes you are right. Smart baseball moves.
I think I read that this kid is throwing 96 MPH fastballs at 16
I would hedge 2-3 years vs 4-5 if that pace keeps up. This kid sounds like the real deal the little I've read about him.
