As I have stated Robertson will take over the 8th and act as insurance if Chapman cant get it together. So yeah..the 8th and 9th combo would be different.

I mean since you know it all and this team is absolutely not going to make any noise this year, we should all just not bother watching the rest of the way.

We'll see how this shakes out over the next two months

They could have done that with Betances and Green/Warren, you know, like they did when Chapman was out with an injury for a month.

Let me know the last time a team with the starting rotation like the Yankees made noise in the post season. I'll wait.

No kidding.

At this point, why not just trade for Cole and Gray? Then this trade (if it goes through) would make sense.

Not exactly true, Clippard has been the culprit for the majority of the blown Yankee losses, Chapman/Betances have had a few yes, but its been mostly Clippard who couldn't hold the lead or gave up the tie game, etc.

It's a win just to get rid of Clippard.

Who says they're done making moves?

I would like to know what is wrong with their rotation?

Tanaka has been much better and looks like a Number one again

Severino has made his way into the 2 slot still so young with a lot of talent.

Montgomerey will overtake CC at some point for the 3 spot and has been a calming presence.

CC has been great all year.

Let me hear your next excuse to ***** and moan about something. I'll wait.

I'll take anything we can get.

Get rid of these players.

Yup. Time to move on. Move them all out. Reyes, Cabrera, Walker, Duda, Reed, any older bullpen arm, Granderson. Might keep Bruce and play him at 1st the rest of the season if they don't want Smith up yet. See if he can play there in the future.

I might be the only one.. but if Tanaka rights himself, the Yankees rotation is nowhere near as bad as led to believe.

Severino has been really really good overall. Sabathia too..

Montgomery is a good #4

and now if the trade goes through the Yankees bullpen is.. Warren, Green, Robertson, Kalhne, Betances and Chapman.

Now if the Yankees continue to rely on Cessa... then yeah... they probably wont make the playoffs.

but again, Robertson and Kalhne (who is the big piece here) are signed beyond this year.

Youre not the only one Lundsanity.

They could use a Cole or Gray behind Tanaka to push back Severino, that certainly would help. But as seen in recent World Series/Postseasons, having a great bullpen is a recipe for success.

This offense is deep already. Adding a righty bat in Frazier would make us even deeper.

They can compete and this was a good move.

Hoping this gets Betances out of his assigned role of the 8th inning, want him throwing more innings, needs to get the walks under control, but would really like to see him used in all parts of the game now.

Give Robertson the 8th, and let Betances and Kahnle come in all different situations.

Jack Curry talking like the deal is done

I'm really high on Rutherford, but he's 20, he's a while away from the majors, and the Yankees already have Hicks, Judge and Frazier as guys who are better than him, there's also a real good chance Florial is better than him as well..

I would have loved to trade him for a SP (I'm sure Cashman tried), but as much as I love Blake, if his power never comes I'm not sure sure what to make of him as a prospect, yes he can hit, but a guy who only hits singles and very few extra base hits wont be worth much, especially if he can't stick at CF, Florial will stick in CF and has more power.

There's also that Bryce Harper guy looming.

I think Florial has made Rutherford expendable.

I agree there are too many players ahead of him. Judge has pretty much cemented himself in the OF. Frazier is in the process. Then there is Hicks. Gardner/Ellsbury in the near future, at least through next year. And then theres Harper

Tanaka has been spotty all season long and Montgomery and CC are both giant question marks at this stage of their careers. I love Montgomery long term, but hes looked like a rookie this year. CC's been a surprise, but soft tossers normally dont fare well in October (not a general rule, but its true.) This is assuming he makes it through the rest of the season with out another injury.

Again, when was the last time a team made serious noise in the playoffs with a rotation like this?

Btw LOL at getting excited about Frazier being a RH bat when the lineup clearly could use another lefty.

Reyes has no value, they'll probably keep him to "mentor" Rosario. I'm okay with that, as long as its off the bench. Rosario at short, Smith at 1B, Flores and Rivera 3B and 2B. Reyes can come off the bench with Cecchini and Reynolds. Cespedes, Conforto and Nimmo in the OF. We gotta test out some players, get rid of all the impending UFA's.

It's either obliviousness, or a rationalization.

Robertson and Kahlne (especially him) help beyond this season as well.. Yankees might have sold low (or high) on Rutherford. If Blake's power never develops, he wont sniff the top 50 again.

There is still 12 days left to make another move.

The bullpen was a need and they addressed. But go on and continue to ignorantly laugh it up.

I will sit here and look at the positives in the trade and root for my team to win. To be honest you sound like a typical Mets fan...

The only one being ignorant here is you mr the starting rotation is fine.

I'll never root for this team to lose, but it doesn't mean that I'm going to sit here and blindly act like every move they make is a good one. Is this a franchise altering move? No, this won't really effect them short term. Long term? Very possible since they just cashed in a pretty big chip for a meh 3b and a pair of relievers (as good as they are, they're still ****ing relievers.)

Whats next? Clint Frazier for Sonny Gray?

offense/bullpen is good enough....

I think the season comes down to Tanaka really.. that and finding someone better than Cessa to be the 5.

They're not moving Frazier, that's why they moved Blake.

Hell, I talked to my uncle today, and he was willing to do Clint Frazier for Sonny Gray straight up :laugh:

I wonder if his spirit landed in the Yankees front office, and had them do this move.
