Mets prospect attacked by a homeless man. Sad story all around.

Las Vegas 51s reliever Logan Taylor was walking down a street Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City when he was approached by a homeless man carrying a tire iron and a sock full of rocks. The man demanded his wallet, Salt Lake City police Detective Greg Wilking said, and subsequently hit Taylor over the back of his head with the tire iron. Taylor suffered a concussion during the robbery attempt and was placed on the disabled list. Manager Pedro Lopez said Taylor was taken to a hospital where he had to have six or seven staples put in the back of his head. Lopez said Taylor was in good enough condition that he was able to be with the team at the ballpark. Joshua Cruz, a 33-year-old Salt Lake City homeless man, was arrested on Saturday in relation to the incident.

Most disinterested baseball player I've ever seen. Every time he's at bat it looks like he just got up off the couch after getting through a 6 pack and a bag of chips

He's had some of the worst swings I've ever seen this year. Truly a bad baseball player.

Another error for Tanner Carter, but I'm sure Alain Girardi is going to keep him in the lineup.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Monday that it's possible Greg Bird (foot/ankle) will undergo exploratory surgery.
Bird remains sidelined with nagging soreness in his right foot/ankle and the club has been unable to get a handle on what exactly is wrong with him. The first baseman will see more doctors later this week, so more should be known then. Bird's status for the rest of the season is totally up in the air. Jul 3 - 5:18 PM

I think the Yankees need to look for a long term option at 1B. I don't trust Bird at all. He's shown no ability to stay healthy.

They need to at least start considering it. Bird just cannot stay healthy and these injuries linger with him for extended periods of time.

It's not like 1B is the most demanding position physically either. He should not be getting injured this often.

At this point they should just shut him down for the year and use next year as the measuring stick if he can rehab, get himself healthy and finally stay healthy for a full season.

I'm sitting right down the right field line today in some bonza seats (birthday gift) and tv doesn't do Judge justice at all.

It's like watching a minotaur run around.

This is what happens when Betances only pitches 4 INNINGS in one month. His mechanics are all out of whack.

Chapman just came back from injury, so I give him a slight pass for now.

Regardless, between injuries, the starting staff, and Joe G's management of the bullpen this season. This just doesn't seem to be the Yankees year.

Bullpen is a dumpster fire. Might as well have a AAA bullpen at this point if they are just going to blow every single game.
