OT: MLB Thread 2024

I remember having a conversation last year about the Rangers being kinda bad and really exhausting and people responded with "but the East is bad so they might make the Finals!"

The Yankees are bad and exhausting, and made the World Series because the AL is pig shit, and I gotta say, I'm not enjoying it that much.

Your team makes the finals or semi-finals and you can't even be a little happy?

The Yankees and the Rangers both fell into the same thing.

They're really not good enough and they keep papering over shit instead of making real changes to the direction of the team.

And kind of for the same reason too. The East and the AL are both horrible right now. So both teams are convincing themselves that the path is there to weasel their way to the final stage.

And what the f*** is the plan when you get there??? Hope the Dodgers or the Oilers just play really bad???

And both teams share a common problem. "#1" (as in, they are seen as the primetime NY team, its different for the Mets/Islanders) NY teams that are always expected to be contenders, and so there is little patience for a true rebuild where the team will be dead last for multiple years.

i think people who follow baseball are realistic about the yankees vs the mets.

Cole out for the season,Gil out a few months,Stanton's arms about to fall off... glorious start to the season

Cole hasn't had major elbow surgery until now, his age 34 season, and has thrown more innings than anyone in the last decade, and had a string of like....6/7 years without missing a start. Workhorse.

Hope he can recover like Verlander did.
