LeMahieu is a machine in the clutch. He is the blueprint for having a proper approach at the dish.
With the cash being thrown about to these guys its telling how not a single team was willing to concede the draft pick to get them earlier probably at a cheaper cost and guaranteeing you get the guy.
Young cheap players (and draft picks of course) are so much more valuable these days, and overpaying rather than losing a draft pick is now a thing in baseball even for the richest teams.
Keuchel chose $1.5 million more to be in ATL. Good, enjoy it. $1.5 million more and the Braves might be a wild card exit considering the holes they have in their pitching staff.
I wanted Keuchel but he is not make or break for me. He might not be ready for 2-3 more weeks. Were into July at that point. Had we signed him and had to wait we would be thinking well we shouldve just waited longer to focus on the trade market.
Now if Scherzer becomes available and we dont grab him i will lose my mind. No excuses then.
Beyond Scherzer my list includes:
Bumgarner
Boyd
Stroman
Not sure what other names are starting to surface
I said lose my mind if he is available and we dont end up with him.Get ready to lose your mind because I don't think Scherzer is going anywhere.

That is something you have to analyze and determine if he becomes available. He’s also beginning to show subtle signs of slowing this year. It’s inevitable with how much mileage he has on his arm that his expiration date is quickly approaching in the next 2-3 seasons. Much like it did with guys like Randy Johnson and Halladay it’ll probably happen suddenly where he just wakes up one day and it’s gone.

Also Scherzer’s numbers are still very much in line with much of his career. He is at a 3.06 ERA right now. He had a 2.96 ERA in 2016 when he went 20-7. His strikeout numbers are on par with his last few seasons in fact as it stands right now his K/9 are at the highest clip its been in his career. Obviously that will change, but he is still pitching very effectively.
