Took a featured parlay for the Yankee game tonight. Judge and Voit to both Homer. +2700

Reading this thread regularly was the cause of taking that bet. Damn you

Im not a big fan of him at all but he's miles ahead of Jason Vargas and we don't know exactly how many starts Matz is gonna give us or of what quality. I'd give him 15 mill for this year.
The Mets can afford it. The majority of the contracts for Wright and Cespedes will be covered by insurance. Hopefully he's still there in a couple weeks once we've seen the back end fail (or even someone like Wheeler who had a great half-season but IMO is still a bit of a question mark).

I agree with all of this. Thing is a team like the Cubs could swoop in because they have even a bigger need. So hopefully they wouldn't wait too long to jump on it. We can afford it absolutely.

Nice win by the Yankees tonight. Ottavino was shaky and the offense was too but Chapman looked good and the Yanks grind it out for a victory.

We'll have to get used to that at times with Ottavino. His pitches move so much. He's like a Super Saiyan version of Jeff Nelson. If you have a hitters umpire like tonight....he isn't getting the calls. Example: German gave up one hit and still had a whip over 1.0.

Chapman's fastball life looked good tonight, even on a cold night.

I nominate Voit as the tank commander because he looked and moved like a tank coming around third on that run scoring play.

It almost looked like Ottavino had the umpire fooled with the first batter and that kinda put him behind the 8 ball.

Very bad news on Andujar. We needed him to perform whether it was to be part of the longterm solution or as a trade chip for a #1. Lets see how the next two weeks go. Guys can play with a small tear of the labrum. Give him a cortisone shot and see how he responds. But it basically makes him a full time DH which screws everything up

lol reminded me of that game against the Cubs a couple years back where Familia loaded up the bases and managed to get out of his own jam spotless

Just saw that Andujar could potentially have season ending surgery on his labrum. First they are going to see if the rehab will work. It's crazy, the Yankees are really like the Mets right now. Good thing they picked up Lem.

Alonso and McNeil have been carrying the Mets so far. Ramos is off to a great start. Need to keep him healthy. Hopefully Nido can spell him well. I don't expect anything from D'Arnaud at this point.

Matz was fine last night. Big thing will be how Vargas pitching tonight. If he bombs, you have to think they'll start looking at other options for the rotation, even after one game. A good start and some of the Keuchel rumors that have recently come up will cool.

Honestly, if there was a way to lock in Kimbrel on a 1 year deal, I'd make it at this point. They'd have possibly the best pen in the NL.

The sucky thing is, behind Keuchel, there's not much left. You've got guys like Shields, Edwin Jackson, Tillman, Gallardo. They all suck. It's why I'm so surprised Keuchel is still out there, because there's nothing else.

Kimbrel would be awesome and he may end up taking a short deal, but I would imagine he'd want to be closing. He'd be the third closer on the roster and wouldn't unseat Diaz, so I don't know if he'd go for that.

I hope Robles pans out and becomes a star. I got a million Victor Robles Topps Chrome rookie cards last year. Refractors. 35th anniversary cards. Base cards.

A million Robles and a million Clint Frazier rookie cards. This is Frazier's opportunity. Stanton is hurt. Hicks is hurt. This is his opportunity. The Yankees need his bat. You don't want to say now or never but it's now or never for him as a Yankee. It's getting there. He had a bad spring training. He appears to be healthy.
