He's been cleared to play, but no timetable for his return.

(Hasn't practiced with the team, and is believed to be coming back when he feels he's ready to come back. Take from that what you will.)

Any rumors or rumblings on alternate reasons? Seems odd he isn't even skating with the team.

He can't, per CBA rules. Since he was injured during the lockout in a non-hockey situation, he has been suspended rather than placed on IR. That is why you will not even find him listed on the teams roster right now. So long as he is suspended he may not practice with the team, nor use team facilities.

Although, I was at the Red Wings game at Staples a few nights ago - like I'm at all the home games - and for the 1st time this season, they actually announced him as being on IR before the game (when they give scratches/IR for both teams). Take it for what you will...

Are you sure he's been suspended? I thought Dean said he wasn't suspending him. He did skate with the team earlier at camp and after the season started.

I'm almost positive the Kings did not suspend him. I was having this discussion with Telos a few weeks back, and Gann chimed in that neither Kopitar (obviously during training camp and the first few days) nor Mitchell had been suspended by the Kings.

Willie had platelets injected into his knee last week. This is suppose to stimulate cartilage growth and reduce pain. This is done to avoid surgery.

I thought he already had surgery.

If the guy was accidentally shot during a hunnting accident

he would have been back sooner.

The guy is not going to play this year if his knee has not recovered by now. (Hoping for a reverse jinx here)

Man what the hell is exactly going on with Walle.

Last I heard he'd finally found love.

The Kings have suspended no one.

Gann even confirmed that.

I don't know who Gann is but nothing else makes sense, IMO. When you consider...

1) Not list on roster. All other players on IR and LTIR are listed on roster, he is not.
2) League would not be happy with a team who did not take this course of action for the precedent it would set
3) Kings are not required to pay Mitchell if he is suspended due to lockout injury, would be no matter where else he is
4) DL and co appear to be upset with Mitchell's situation, doubt they would be willing to be very forgiving with him right now

Gann is the writer for Frozen Royalty.

Sutter has said repeatedly that Mitchell is not on the Kings roster and he will not comment on non Kings. He's not on the roster. Nobody can question that. The only thing that can be questioned is information given by Gann that says the Kings have not suspended him. That is the only explanation that comes to my head, but I don't know the ins and outs of these scenerios.

Is there ANYTHING new on Mitchell's status?

We got a month to go until the end of the season...I think our chances of having playoff success is going to take a big drop if we don't get him back.

I just find it so strange that whatever this guy is suffering from is obviously significant enough to keep it out for MONTHS, yet it's this big secret? I don't get it....
