My sources are people who grew up with him, and still see him. What more do u want ? I play against his dads team should I grill him to? I'm sure her gets it enough. I leave him alone.

I was just told he's was not feeling good. Could be his head again.

Don't shoot the messenger. I want him back to
I don't think people are mad at you. It's just crappy news to hear. :(

Yeah, he's on the books next year. I forgot about the buyouts and injuries, but I guess if he goes LTIR it doesn't really matter in terms of cap hit anyway.
It only matters in the summer. I'm glad it's just 1 more year if he does have a concussion again but I really hope it's just misinformation.

I think Mitchell should have another surgery just for the sake of having another surgery

If this is the case it would not shock me if he just retired. No need to ruin his mellon and his life after the game (which is right around the corner). Too bad, huge player for us.

he will likely do what Pronger is doing and not retire but just stay on the injury reserve until his contract runs out. that way he still gets paid. Can't say I blame the guy.

Mitchell is/was my fiance and my favorite LA blueline. I hope he comes back right before the playoffs.

well this sucks, sucks even more is the only asset the kings have to replace him is bernier.

Hopefully we can trade him before word gets out, too risky, I thought his knee was risky but this is a whole new level. We need to get rid of him as soon as we can. We might not get anything for him if we wait too long.

I don't think he would have that good of value. I would rather have the veteran d man that he is.

He didn't cost us anything but he was a main reason we are the current cup champions. I'd be in no hurry to trade him unless he wanted to be closer to home or wished a holiday in Florida in exchange for Shore

Why do you think we'd get anything for him? He's a 35+ contract and hasn't played yet this season. The guy counts against the cap no matter what (I think he'd count even if he died IIRC from the CBA) so any team taking him on would be stuck with his hit even if he retired. What team is going to trade anything of value for him when he won't even play?

not saying they would but didnt the islanders do that with thomas ?

Its a high risk High reward for any team that wants him, if there are teams desperate enough, which there probably is, I would see them taking him.

He's injured and the Kings are being tight lipped about his condition. Why on earth would any team want such a player?

To reach the cap floor, yes. They don't need to do it now, nor does any other team. Additionally, they gave up a 2nd that only goes to Boston if Thomas plays, which is almost guaranteed won't for the Islanders, so basically the Bruins got nothing for him, which was my point.

Taking him for what though? A 5th? Yeah sure, maybe, though I even doubt that. Really, anyone who takes him would be doing us a favor and eating his salary cap hit, because the only reason DL would trade him is if he can't play anymore in the first place.

We aren't going to get anything of significant value for him.

Exactly. If the situation were reversed, would we want DL trading for this type of player? No, unless we gave up almost nothing for him and could afford to absorb the cap hit in case he elected to retire or not play.

Maybe Willie tripped while he was hunting, hit his head and woke up thinking he must have hurt his knee? No wonder he isn't feeling well. He has a concussion and then a doctor goes and does surgery on his knee. Did they even do an x-ray first or do they just start cutting and looking for stuff? Reminds me of this..

wonder if Willie might be missing his 3rd ball?

I've had fleeting thoughts about another concussion for Mitchell after all the secrecy and Lombardi's "he's out for the season" comment. If true, we really do have to move forward, and that's okay in the long run.

Mitchell's old and on his way out of the game. People talk about our record with and without him and while that's all valid, we needed to get to this point, anyway. What happens when the guy retires? Etc etc. Sooner or later Drew Doughty was going to have to take ownership of this blue line and a kid like Muzzin was going to have to show he's a potential long term replacement. Be glad this is all happening now rather than, oh, 10 months ago.

Alternate treatment for Willie Mitchell is working per LA Lombardi, no timetable for return. Still.

"Another procedure" done on Willie Mitchell today - "something he wanted to try".

Mitchell had something called platelet-rich plasma therapy, as mentioned by @reallisa
