I think if it gets to that point we will see AMart traded and one of Scuderi or Regehr will not be re-signed.

Just too many chefs in that kitchen.

Yep one or the other....

"We would like to thank Rob Scuderi for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors"

Too many...

The issue of replacing Willie must be made by July1. We need to know if we need both Scuderi and RR next year if Willie can't play.

It's also possible Dean won't wait until Willie gets cleared, if he ever does. RR/Scuderi could sign an extension before July 1st and that will be that for Willie.

So let's say July 1 Dean has no timetable for Willie, so Scuds and RR both come back for another year, and then in October Willie is ready to play. What happens then?

Just question.
If Mithcell retires (hope he will be healthy) will his contract still count next season because it is 35+ ?

Yes.

Also, how about we let him play a game as a King before we talk about him being a long-term piece of the Kings future. Not all rentals pan out, and Buffalo fans certainly had mixed reviews on him.

Someone gets dealt for picks or to fill some other weakness.

There are a lot of hypotheticals, but it's fun to speculate.

L.A. could potentially have
  1. Willie
  2. Scuderi
  3. Regehr
  4. Greene
  5. Doughty
  6. Voynov
  7. Muzzin
  8. Martinez
  9. Ellerby
on the roster at the same time.

Great idea, except Dean alluded to him being Mitchell's replacement for the future.

That would be sicker than a poodle with diabetes, but it ain't going happen. Nor could the Kings afford the cap hits of the first six on the list

WIllie is in recovery and wants to keep playing. Feels like it got better and then went from almost good to very swollen and painful so he had his recent surgery. Thinks that the Dr's got everything right and that he will keep playing.

He is a warrior and an optimist but I wonder if he can get himself all the way back. If anyone can he can but I don't know. His agent believes that he will be right back to form and ready for next season but that is his job.

That's when you play three defensemen at a time with two forwards.

And that can't change if RR doesn't play up to hype? Or if RR decides he'd rather play someplace else, since no one has heard a peep from him saying he wants to be here for anything but a cup run?

As for the D line up.

Its going to be fun to watch what DL does. Word is he offered RS a very discounted extension and that RS is likely to test the UFA market. IF Willie can get back his game he will be there.

WillieM
A Mart
Doughty
Muzzin
Voynov
Ellerby

are all under contract for next season. DL/DS will do everything to try and sign Regehr or they wouldn't have picked him up at the price that they paid. He is my bet to be on the team next season.

Ragehr
Voynov
Doughty
Muzzin
Martinez
Ellerby
possibly Mitchell (in no particular order)

Pretty effective and inexpensive (ish) group. At least solid enough to win a cup and cheap enough to allow us to keep/build a winner.

If Scuds is back

Scuderi
WillieM
Muzzin
Doughty
Voynov
Regenr
Ellerby

I like that allot.

A Mart along with JB could bring us one heck of a solid package of picks/prospects to keep the team in contention for another 5 or 6 years too.

I agree. We still have several question marks for our D.

Is Willie being realistic when he says he will be ready for next season?

Will RR play well enough to stick with us?

Will RR return to Buffalo or somewhere else?

Will Scuds sign with us?

How much will VV accept for his next contract?

We look good regardless of how each of these questions are answered but we absolutely have some big decisions this offseason. Some we can control and some we can't and I bet DL is pretty frustrated right now about that.

I don't understand why people are concerned about A 33 year old Regehr "losing a step" in the pond hockey East, yet would welcome back a 35+ Willie Mitchell with a bum knee? I like WM as much as anyone but give RR a chance.

I think Regehr and Scuderi will stay, and Mitchell will be bought out or traded. Hope he's okay, of course. But DL's interview yesterday sure made it sound like they received unexpectedly bad news about his knee.

Either AMart or Ellerby is traded and the other is 7th dman. Muzzin will pair with Greene.

Scuderi - Doughty
Regehr - Voynov
Muzzin - Greene

You forgot Greener!

Wow! I like these D pairing. We gonna be a b!tch to play against. I wish Scud can plays a little more physical.

You can't buy out or trade an injured player.
