Mitch Marner's 22nd goal of the season happened in the blink of an eye as he and Auston Matthews executed a perfect play off the draw against the Predators. Marner credits his old Toronto teammates Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk for inspiring his quick-trigger faceoff goal.

Strange that Marner didn't indicate Matthews called the play and literally told Marner before the faceoff he'd be drawing it inside to him for that quick shot.

Matthews on the play:
"I just needed to let him (Marner) know i was trying to come to him and it ended up working out"

Meanwhile Marner jumping through hoops not to give any credit to Matthews for setting the play up before the faceoff lol

Nice. I love Dakota Joshua. Glad he scored. Showed some excellent skill there!

Take away his 2 goals and 6 assists vs a Tampa team led by a sieve in goal and his numbers look even less impressive. 9 goals and 33 assists in 51 games. That is a 67 point pace. And he wants $13+m to give us the privilege of watching him melt like the snow in spring for 8 more years if we are lucky to make the playoffs. What a comedian.

.... they are bad no matter what year is removed or kept. Additionally, the fact that his mistakes far and away have led to more game winning goals against than any other Leaf.

12.5 for what? He's not better than Nylander's 120 point pace last year when he signed an 11.5 mil deal.

Nylander 40 goals 80 points is when he caught up with Marner offensively. He surpassed him last year.

This year Nylanders on pace for 90 points 47 something goal.

So he was straight up worse last year. Probably worse this year too and ya'll wanna give him a raise?

Yup, Marner only scored 85 points that year. True, he only played 69 games, but who knows, he might reach the 100 mark with fewer goals by Matthews.

There's a loooooong list of players some fans have run out of town. Lot's of them didn't deserve it and went on to very successful careers. Now they have chosen Marner. People need someone to blame for whatever reason. Very immature imo.
