Mitch Marner, Yet Again

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Anything else aside, the execution on those freeze frames was pretty solid.

He didn't have to get punched in the face for it.
Did not see the play since the Flyers sent an AHL team but if he pulled that shit up 6-2, he deserves more than a punch in the face. Wonder if he'd tries it against a Bobby Clarke led Flyers team.

Well, he has the skill to do it, he should try it. What the hell would Bobby Clarke do about it?

Marner was more effective 2-7-9 points in the playoffs in 2017-18 as a teenager on his ELC playing against Boston playing alongside Bozak and JVR (before Tavares), then he was as a 27 year old 1-2-3 points playing alongside Matthews in 2023-24 against Boston again, this time without Selke Patrice Bergeron for Bruins,

Part of that reason was coach Babcock believed in a balanced TOP 9 and created mismatches for the opposition to handle.

Keefe believed putting all his eggs in one basket and pairing Marner with Matthews, draws the opposition best defenders & top Dman pairing and that keeps the top players in check.
I think everyone wants marmer just at a conttact thats fair

Send someone to punch him in the face I remember when Hertl did it after getting the hat tricc they were ripping him on the broadcast and the other team didnt like it much comes off as showboating my friend it’s similar to the Joey bat flip bacc in the day times have changed though for sure

He might do that and then the Leafs could feast on the powerplay.

The same team took great offence to Grieg slapping the puck into any empty net and posters praised Rielly for cheap shotting Grieg. Marner showboating in the 3rd leading 6-2 is fine.

I'd take it, but I prefer to go in a different direction. Fantastic skill but overall too soft, too much perimeter, goal scoring trending down. He'd dominate the WPHL though.
If I had to decide today, I'd agree. But based on theory that anything's possible, I'll leave the door open to the possibility that Marner can show the world that he is worth his cap hit in the playoffs (and not just the first 4 games) and if he can do that, I'd be happy to keep him. But only for a reasonable contract of course, if he wants to be paid as if he's on the same tier as Matthews/Draisaitl etc. then no. 12-13 million range with all those endorsements (and he will get many more of those if we make some noise in the playoffs), if that's not enough for money Mitch then he can go f*** himself and go play in Utah or wherever.

That was the play where Rielly put it in the net only for it to be called back. Amazing skill unfortunately it didn't hit pay dirt. Missed a couple of frames but a video would have been a better showcase of skill.
Post the video and show everyone.

That was not an amazing showcase of skill... Ersson wasnt fooled at all and was 100% in position and square to the puck to make the easy save. Between the legs plays arent that hard, kids make them.

The better option wouldve been to just take the backhand from the middle of the slot.

It was skill on full display.

Great idea, I'm sure Leaf fans would love to see more highlights of the magic.

The goal to make it 7-6 was incredible.
May have been the best regular season game I've been to.

I'm sure there are tons more, we can add some more later.

Enjoy everyone!

Full display of him turning a excellent scoring chance created by his two linemates into a low percentage look at me play.

A hard backhand is more of a skill tham a between tbe legs peewee shot.
No, it was a full display of skill of the kind that makes an already great game even better.
