An agents job is also to control PR for a player and he is terrible at it. Mitch would have a much easier go, less pressure, etc if his team wasn't so bad at it. Sure he gets his clients money, but he struggles to get them admiration. You shouldn't be able to use that logic but I think he has one of the best agents in the league. He saps every last penny that he can from the franchise for his players.
Very very true, I wonder if "the letter" was his ideaAn agents job is also to control PR for a player and he is terrible at it. Mitch would have a much easier go, less pressure, etc if his team wasn't so bad at it. Sure he gets his clients money, but he struggles to get them admiration.

He should just ask Carney how to avoid taxes. I’m sure he has a few tips. That tax calculator is raw nonsense. It is simply compares the marginal tax rate charged between two places and doesn't take into account tax avoidance strategies like foundations, deductions, etc. IOW it's garbage.
Certainly possible, we don't have much to go on, but outside of Ferris' reputation, that's all guesswork. And imo, it doesn't align very well with the few actions and inactions we have been privy to direct from the source.I'd bet it all there have been several contracts already offered. His agent likes to go to the wire and thinks the rising cap is a factor. I'd be stunned if 12 mil wasn't already offered, just look at our internal salaries, slightly above Willie with a bigger cap, it's just baked in. Again, I don't buy for a second the Leafs haven't tried hard, perhaps they've backed off now because Ferris clearly wants to hit July 1, but don't confuse that with Tre not making offers, they clearly have.
Dude you're wasting your time. Don't waste good posts on a bot."If you’ve ‘provided plenty’ to back up your claim, then why does your argument rely so heavily on selective framing? You keep insisting Marner is better in every game state, but that’s simply not true. Rantanen is the better goal scorer, just as capable a playmaker, and has consistently elevated his game when it matters most. You dismiss his physical attributes as ‘bonus points,’ but size, strength, and the ability to protect the puck are actual hockey skills that contribute to a player’s impact.
You also claim I’m ignoring context while conveniently downplaying the fact that Rantanen has outperformed Marner in crucial situations, particularly in the playoffs, where the game tightens up and individual impact is magnified. Sure, Marner is a strong defensive forward, but let’s not pretend Rantanen is a liability, his two-way play is strong, and his ability to dominate possession is just as valuable.
You’re trying to frame this as a refusal to engage in productive discussion, but really, you just don’t like that I’m challenging your biased narrative. If we’re talking about full context, then we can’t just cherry-pick which aspects matter—Rantanen has proven himself just as valuable, if not more, in key moments. If you truly want a fair discussion, acknowledge that instead of dismissing it.
Pastrnak's last contract and this one has a M-NTC (8-10-10 teams) through the last three years
Rantanen's last contract had a 2 year M-NTC (9-9 teams)
Sebastian Aho's current contract has a 1 year M-NTC (15 teams)
Brayden Point's last three years have a 3 year M-NTC (10 teams throughout)
Even draisaitl's last contract had a M-NTC but for 10 teams
hell even kucherov had a M-NTC for the last 3 years of his deal (10 teams throughout)
meanwhile we handed out NMC's to Matthews and Marner completely and to Nylander too, and there is a mix of UFA and RFA signings above so that can't be the reason either.
it isn't the most flexibility as the player still gets to chose where he goes, but it makes a move such as this possible from the franchise's standpoint vs a full NMC
it is Dubas's (Tre in the nylander UFA and Matthews UFA deals) fault that he gave them everything (High AAV's, shorter terms, full move protections) and in the deals we got nothing back
It could be worse, take a look at Pierre Engvall's contract. We gave Domi and Kampf stronger NTCs than Pasta or any of those guys lmao
And we are waiting for him to do it during the REAL season.Marner is unquestionably getting a hat trick in this game to remind management that he's waiting.
Thank you Dubas for that NTC as a final f*** you.
Still meant Leafs MGT believed they had more chance in signing Rantanen than MM as of now.The difference is Rantanen was ready to sign yesterday, Marner isn't yet. That's all it is. Tre went for the sure thing. Didn't work.
I would actually put Shanahan above.dubas is THE WORST THING that ever happened to the Leafs since Ballard. yes even WORSE than teachers pension plan bullshit
Yeah if his goal was to piss us and the front office off more, mission accomplished.Do you guys think it was MM’s camp who leaked that he vetoed to waive to get trades and thought this will win the fans over.
And it back fire a big way.
He'll pull a Rantanen. 14m from Toronto or 12m from a team down south.
And his PR crew on this board. LOL.Marner needs the money to pay off Kyper.
I would actually put Shanahan above.
Shanahan knows what it takes to win. But he sold the entirety of his soul to corporate schmoozing.
There is a place in hockey Hell for that man. To me, he's more guilty than Dubas.
And his PR crew on this board. LOL.
Like I said, they might think this will show he wants to stay, this winning PRYeah if his goal was to piss us and the front office off more, mission accomplished.
I don't think Marner's camp leaked this because it is not beneficial to him to do so.
