WAS ROR the only player who stepped up and said he's needed to be better!?

Keep Marner.
Our best player both in Regular Season and in the Playoffs.
Best player 5 on 5
Best penalty killer and best player on the power play

If you trade Marner you might as well trade Matthews because there’s no way in hell he’s gonna stay if Marner is traded

If Nylander signs under 9, I'd trade Marner. If he wants closer to Marner money, he's the one to go. I believe he also said he might want to sign later in which case, he's the one to go.
We have more time with Nylander because he has a limited no trade clause. A 10 team list I believe. That allows us some leeway.

Marner has a full NMC, if he’s the one you are moving, get it done by draft day.

What would people want in return?
A bigger, skilled forward like a Rantanen type or Kempe? Can skill, speed, play the boards, hard to move, etc.

A skilled D like a Quinn Hughes? Running the backend like Makar can? Instead of RW Marner, it’s a D QB for 25+ minutes? In a package with Boeser up front?

These posters actually believe that they form little gangs. Dubas and Pridham are a team. Matthews and Marner are a team. It's just so weird. As if you offered Pridham GM he would say ugh no way bud, I am going to be the AGM wherever Dubie goes.

what does this have to do with players saying or not saying they need to be better

at his salary, we need a Gezlaf type of player, can fight, can forecheck, can defend. Not like any leafs players after hit the other team players and lie on the ice, scared to fight with them.

People are actively saying that players are formed together in a union of sorts and are package deals. They will go with each other. It was brought up and I am calling that out as absurd.

The players that don't say they need to be better are not honest with themselves and to the fans. It's not a good sign tbh.

I will be sad if Marner is traded, but I feel its the right move. His game doesn't translate to the playoffs. Has very little fight in him to retrieve pucks from the dirty areas. Also shys away from contact way too often. End of game 4 was quite telling as well. After Rielly was hit, Marner was content with just skating around the net instead of trying to help out his teammates. He could have joined in grabbed someone but instead kept skating until Tkachuk pushed him back towards the scrum. And we've seen many other times he just doesn't seem to have that drive or killer instinct. Others have not shown it as well but Mitch's cap hit is too high for what he brings in the playoffs. FIre Keefe, trade Marner and use that money to bring in some skilled grinders for the top 6. Easier said than done obviously. Looking forward to changes cause I'm tired of running this back every year.
That drives me crazy myself . All of them are like that . Mathews , Marner , Nylander , Tavares all are very reluctant to get involved or grab a partner . It's sickening imo . How would you feel if you were their team mates , even if it's not a concience thought it sure would be sub conciously . They don't have to fight someone but at least get in there and make it look like your trying to be a good teammmate. These guys are afraid but it's also on the coach's for not demanding accountability .

I would trade Marner and Nylander, but I would need to know what the return would be. I want players who are skilled, but physical. Warriors who thrive in physical contests and won’t hesitate to come to a teammate’s aid.

I don’t know what players who have that type of game, are out there and would be a possibility, but that’s the only type of player I would trade them for.

The question for me is:

Do you trade them for forwards or defencemen , or one of each?

Let it be known that Marner and Nylander are available, open the bidding, then let them all know a few weeks into it, that only one will be moved. Maximize what you can get for either guy and go from there. Leafs are not going to win any trade of any of the Core 4 guys, but the packages could be VERY good though.

This is true for the most part but Marner did pair up with Tkachuk at the end of game 4.

They're friends and Tkachuk was toying with him . That said yeah , at least he was in the vacinity rather than standing off to the side like he usually does .

I always had my own opinions on a winning team can afford maybe 1 player on it's roster who doesn't play defensily well and doesn't stand up for team mates and that player has to be very good to get away with it. Can't afford any d like that or ones that are afraid to go back and take a hit retriving pucks no matter how good they are . The oposition will always target those guys weakness's .
Not saying Marner's the issue because i think he's a great hockey player but it's more of an issue there's to many of that type on the Leafs . All of these guys would be playing much bigger on other teams that had a more unified team approach as well .

Yup. One, maybe two, but it seems like we have more than that, a lot more.
This fan base is toxic. Marner arguably one of the best all around forwards at young age, hitting 100points and here is people trying to trade him away lolll.
Nobody's untouchable. Marner is one of the best forwards in the league but he's not that young any more so it's disturbing when people talk about him "figuring it out", shouldn't he have it figured out by now? Some people also aren't happy with failing in the playoffs year after year.

I like Marner, great player but he was so bad in game 3 against Florida, that's going to stick with me for a long time. Maybe a new coach can light a fire under him, I dunno though.

Yeah but apparently he doesn't hit the gym everyday at 5 in the morning

Is it too late to convert Marner to C? Selke candidate who basically plays C and is all over the ice.

Knies Matthews Nylander
Bertuzzi Marner T.Wilson.
