Dont be too sure
yeah thats a wonderful idea. we can't score in the playoffs so it makes a lot of sense to trade the one guy who scores, has a lethal shot and zone entry abilities so we can pay marner 13-14 million per year to skate backwards and try to thread passes to matthews that get broken up.trade willie keep mitch?
Maybe a poll: retire it or burn it in effigy?
Crosby is a historical outlier that had a huge obsession with the number 87. Even then, it represented the highest value post-ELC contract ever, and is a sizeable amount for a player in their late 30s. The second contract was a couple percent below where you'd expect, and good for Crosby for taking one for the team, but we should also remember that it was a currently-illegal career contract for a player that was dealing with a career threatening injury, so not exactly a good example of what to expect.
This is really the first time the Leafs have had a decent team in a high-scoring era.True stat:
Mitch is (for now) 5th all-time in Leafs playoff points.
Considering how few games he played and how underwhelming his performance has been in the post-season, it is one of the most damning indictments of this franchise's absolutely atrocious playoff history post-1967.
(AM & Willie will likely both catch him if the Leafs get out of the 1st round next year, possibly even if they don't make it that far.)
Still as ridiculous as the last 20 times you said that.trade willie keep mitch?
I'm getting pretty sick of the schedule B bonuses and Babcock stuff
You can say a lot of stuff about this organization but they haven't been shy about throwing money at almost everything for the last decade
We've given all the big 3 pretty much everything they have wanted contractually since they left there ECL
They make more money than there comparables
Full NMC
Full Bonus structure
None of those players has a leg to stand on if they have a problem with how they have been treated, none of them
If Marner goes, fair enough that's his right and decision but I think the teams been more than fair to him in his time here
And for the 450th time:
"Yes, if an NHL player has a full no-movement clause (NMC), they do not need to waive it to have only their negotiating rights traded before they become a UFA. A NMC means the player must approve any trade, not just whether they can be traded, and an NMC is in effect until the end of a player's contract. "
They tried to do both and were unsuccessfultrade willie keep mitch?
If my choice is between 2 wingers, I keep the better goal scorer. Also since one is signed for 8 years with a NMC, the case is made.trade willie keep mitch?

A good indicator is even strength performance.
Sundin leads with 46 ESP. Clark and Keon have 45. Apps and Nylander have 44. Matthews has 42 and Marner is tied for 9th with 38. Rielly has 37. JT is 30th with 20.
What is this nursery school ?What’s pretty obvious is that Marner and Matthews are b-buddies and that there’s a schism between those two and Nylander. I bet he doesn’t really care, but it’s not really good for that dressing room. Get Willy to lift his NMC and send him to a nice team, keep M&M and let those buddies run it back year after year, having their best pal on their side. Remember - they’re human, they need their friend. If Marner is gone, Matthews won’t get over it and will be sad forever, losing his best friend and stuff
Not sure what that has to do with the topic, which was points in the playoffs, but OK.and now do time on ice short handed
You have quite the imagination with your little stories, but no, Marner wouldn't be the first player to leave a place where he was undervalued and mistreated, though it is historically pretty rare for a GM to fumble things this badly with one of their most important players. Also pretty rare for fans to be this toxic towards one of their best players. Marner is quite the historical outlier in one way at least - the amount of irrational hate he gets. Hopefully they still find a way to come to a deal.Well, I would say Mitch Marner is a historical outlier for having to leave his hometown over historical resentments stemming from a GM who didn’t give him Schedule B bonuses and mistreatment from a coach 8-10 years ago, whose hurt feelings couldn’t be ameliorated by a 6 year overpay.
The ignominy of coming up so feebly in big games and yet having some kind of resentment towards the situation that you have to blame it all on some mistreatment and outside noise. It’s sad and funny at the same time. Goodbye and good luck Mitch.

Nursey school for the rich and famous. Quite the soap opera if true. What is this nursery school ?
Clearly you get what you pay for and it is why he needs more money to pay his defense team. Qualities include:There's not a single player on this Leafs team that I wouldn't trade if we got an interesting package after these NINE years of choking. Hard to believe the court appointed defense Marner has full time over the years. It doesn't make any sense. The guy doesn't like the fans and wants as money as possible and a lot of fans, myself included, don't respect it after what we've seen. Name a playoff series where he was the best player after 10 years. None? I'm fine with the cap space. This opinion would be the same for Matthews/Willy/JT, why Mitch has such full time protectors is beyond me
Can even play the McDavid card too if you want - tons agreed he could have gotten alot more than 12.5.Ok, then I play the Crosby card.
Good to see you around again HamiltonNHL, haven't seen you around for awhile. It's the opposite.
He's never going to be a playoff performer.
EVER.
He can't zone entry, carry the puck, or score in the playoffs.
Perpetually injured.
Annnddd why is Willy waiving his NMC again??trade willie keep mitch?
Have to admit though, if Alina Habba works for Mitch’s defense team. I know which sides I will be on, lol.Clearly you get what you pay for and it is why he needs more money to pay his defense team. Qualities include:
1. a vivid imagination
2. ability to suck and blow at the same time
3. ability to turn oneself into a pretzel daily
4. ability to dazzle with bullshit
5. ability to defend until the death
It is too bad Karoline Leavitt is busy working for Trump because she'd be awesome working for Mitch. I'm guessing she would be very expensive because she is the gold standard.
You are missing some key points: We can acquire assets back for Nylander and we cannot acquire any assets back for Marneryeah thats a wonderful idea. we can't score in the playoffs so it makes a lot of sense to trade the one guy who scores, has a lethal shot and zone entry abilities so we can pay marner 13-14 million per year to skate backwards and try to thread passes to matthews that get broken up.
To make room for Mitch they are really buddies and William wants to do him a favour. LolAnnnddd why is Willy waiving his NMC again??
