Theodore has a ntc and even if he didn't his value is high so they could simply move him for assets if they wanted to clear cap space for MM , they wouldn't just give him to us so Mitch can get an 8th year and Thachuk wasn't a ufa .

talking about the Leafs gets attention regardless how far fetched the ideas are , fact is MM controls the process and the only upside to him for a sign and trade is the 8th year but as i said i doubt that yields much of a return for us

I would only do this if Treliving is 100% confident that he can deal Rielly for zero retention

I think it would depend on your point of view.

If you believe he's giving another team a 'discount' maybe, but I think that's unlikely, so I'd see it as an indication of his real value.

Bennett would provide a helluva lot of what we’re missing though.

If we could also sign Ekblad and trade a defenseman for a good middle six forward that’s a substantial shift.
