No they haven’t played run and gun for 8 straight playoffs, although they should have.

Just in case you haven’t been watching the playoffs they can’t play run and gun because that type of hockey doesn’t work in the playoffs………
A team with 4 11 million dollar forwards should have been allowed to try. Not too many other teams built that way.

That was a roster flaw dating back to off-season, we're not an overly fast team.

Allowing 2 shots a period single digit shots for most periods, doesn’t seem like the players had offence in mind.

Yes, he probably is the easiest target to move, but let's not forget he wanted to be here, gave us some great memories and was a pretty samn good player.
The core 4 theory didn't work.. it's not all on him.
This idea of entitlement is crazy as everyone complaining sounds like an entitled kid that didn't get the present they were promised.

Yeah Marner has to own his part of it because he hasn't been great in the playoffs but the reality is that none of them have been. Marner has been the most productive of the 4 high priced forwards and he's an all situation forward who eats minutes.
JT has lost a whole step but the other 3 have no excuse for not being a lot better with the talent and pay cheques they have. Singling out Marner is just so odd but whatever..
not sure where the idea comes from they play a run and gun system . far from it . They just aren't particularly good at defence mostly because their defence cn't move the puck up . To play run and gun they would need a really mobile defence and that's not what they have.

What do the Leafs have to lose, as they're clearly not even getting out of round #1 with him?
Marner has scored 11 goals total over the course of 8 playoff years. What are we really afraid of here?
The player the Leafs walked away from Zach Hyman because $5 mil was too high for the GM to pay has scored 10 goals in 11 playoff games this year alone.
Now that is a reason for Leaf Nation Fans to get upset about letting a player leave, IMO

You don't need 4 X +$11 mil forwards to play strong defense.. Perhaps you're forgetting they're getting paid that salary to score goals.
You can find a bunch on 3rd and 4th line checkers and grinders making far far less to limit the opposition from scoring.
Tyler Bertuzzi at $5 mil produced as much as Auston Matthews did, Max Domi making $3.3 mil out produce Marner & Tavares both making @ $11.
When defensive dman Lyubushkin ends the playoffs with as many points as Marner then "Houston we have a big problem".

I’m suggesting they all were told to play D and offence is secondary, so they did. Glad you brought Hyman up, doesn’t it make you wonder under a different coach how much more effective can the core 4 be? I take the stand it’s not the players it’s what the players are being told to do.

It did for Colorado in 2022, 85 goals in 20 GP. The lack of PMD beyond Rielly would be an impediment to that working for the Leafs though.
I think if Marner is willing to waive, expect one of the top destinations to be Pittsburgh.
Dubas loves reuniting with old colleagues, so to me, Marner going to Pittsburgh makes total sense.
