Why? He's certainly earned one.
He hasn’t earned a thing in my books I saw someone who couldn’t deliver time and time again when we needed him to and last year was probably his worst showing in the playoffs my opinion anyway like I said I hope he can Over come his fear this year he shouldn’t be afraid of the playoffs at this point it’s going on 8 years so hopefully he’s ready

I think they are equal, I’m taking advantage of the fact that Mitch wants to play here and William may have moved on for a little more.
Seems like backward thinking. Reward the guy who would leave, hardball the guy who wants to stay.

I doubt the team will do that, they'll pay him what they feel is fair based on where he slots in on the Team.

Why and where did you get the idea he was moving for more money ?

Lmfao what the hell are you talking about? He was 16 or 17 years old. How is that a big red flag? It sounds like a kid having a kid moment and needing some time to get his head straight.
It’s been occurring here as well he just never got sent home the moments get to big for him sometimes

Yeah he was hurt and abandoned by the other two, pretty tough spot to be in . Most wouldn't feel that's a true representation of the player.

He will be paid for his entire body of work and value to the Team, not based on your perception of a couple games.

Players generally go where they earn the most. Some cities have an advantage for one reason or another, weather, taxes, not worth uprooting and moving, I’m playing for my fav team, etc

I think it’s completely fair and relevant to talk about it as it relates to his pro career. But if he has confidence issues as a kid in junior why are we bringing that up now? It was 8 years ago. Let’s focus on the here and now and keep it to his time with the leafs.

And if we are being completely honest, Marner has had two really bad series. Montreal and Florida. Out side of that I don’t think he’s been any better or worse than anyone else. Even last year for Boston us wasn’t highly effective but he wasn’t costing us games directly like in the Montreal series and Florida.

Is that first paragraph a joke ? It’s hard to tell if your serious even when they came bacc he did nothing but let a guy come off the bench and send them home let’s be honest and not sugar coat things lol he felt hurt and abandoned ? Wrong league for him to play in if that’s the case lol

That last play was on Rielly and Samsonov IMO. That’s not Marner’s guy. He maybe could have reacted quicker to help back check but Rielly got caught up way too high and Samsonov should have played the puck there.

i never brought up the junior stuff but the moment has been to big for him several times yet I’m hearing he’s already earned something I mean he probably has but he definitely isn’t deserving in my opinion

Marners right beside him slow him down through the neutral zone until someone else can picc him up that wasn’t done is that not his job there?

Slow him down how? By taking an interference penalty? You can’t impede a player that was not anywhere near the puck. Like I said his reaction time to getting back to help back check, could have 100% been better. But Samsonov has to play the puck, and Rielly can’t be floating near the blue line and Marner was flat footed on that play. That was a complete systemic break down. Not just “Marner should stop him”

Willie had a pretty good float going on during that play as well. Lots of blame to go around.

Did they cave? Or do they just value Nylander at 11.5? I think it’s the latter. I think they look at Nylander and Pastrnak as the same. And I think a lot of people around the league do too. Especially considering Nylander can and is willing to play center.
IMO they caved. Willie stuck to his number and told them to call them when they were ready to pay. Tre looked at all his options, trade for top dman or replace via UFA and concluded Willie at $11.5m was his best option. Nobody was giving Willie $92m as a UFA.

Quite the opposite. Aside from physical talent, the best players are successful because they are better at concentrating on the next game, next period, next shift, next practice, next team meeting, next workout, etc. April is a billion light years away for them.

You keep saying that, but I have no doubt there are teams that would give him more.
I agree but only for 7 years so most likely less overall money.

Be thankful they are not paragraphs like some other posts.

Are you saying we are a cup contender? It's fine to say yes. I probably agree but how many cracks at it do we have? Keep in mind the D core contracts and age + tender contracts in year 3. Most teams don't get it first time, not even second on a good team with a deep run. This team is going over the hill in year 3. In other words we need to win in the next couple years.
Correct. I would suggest that the Leafs realistically have three more years in which to win one or more Cups, because the entire defense will likely have to be replaced by the end of that period.

I was told Kyle was going to win 3 cups in 5 years if he leaves. He's not winning this year, so the Leafs have one year. LOL.

How does anybody know they’ve had a post deleted? Do they get a message?

Sucks that Antro got banned, after all the lengths he was going to were comical. Maybe he was just trolling everybody.

I haven't had any. Maybe one but if you stick to opinions and are generally civil as per the TOS it's fine.

I just ask people with simple opinions expand their thoughts so I can better see their perspective.

What is horsecrap ???

How do we pay these guys on average 12.5m each and expect to sign JT. Deal with giving the goalies a raise and satisfy guys like Knies? How do you work that math and win? Depth etc? Dcore especially

This legit stuff not junk.

Thank you. Yes I agree. The overpays and cap structure will hit us in the face in that 3rd year. I think we have 2 solid years to win not 3 but at least you have given it thought.

The defense is pretty much set. 5 out of 6 dmen are locked up for next 3 years, so this is the d core they believe in. It's going to be tight but I assume the leafs are going to be trusting their ELC guys. I also think they will look to move off Kampf and bury Reaves. Unfortunately I think Jarnkrok's career is in danger of being over, so that's almost an additional 6 million. I will agree with you that it is likely not the most ideal structure. But I do think Tavares will be making 5 million or less. I think the O'Reilly deal is a perfect comparable for him. somewhere above 4.5 but less than 5 million.

You can bump the player what do you mean slow him down how ? Are you joking ?

He was on the wrong side of the ice should he have left his side of the ice to help these guys do their job?

Watch it again, he was floating in the middle of the ice in the Leaf end.
