Wow just wow. I thought the main boards were being unfair but here we have Leaf fans being just as bad. Is this the patience everyone was going to show for the rebuild?

Nevermind, don't answer.

Seriously lol, this thread is turning into a joke. Marner is point per game with just 3 games played, and people are here talking like he went pointless throughout the tournament.

I fully expect Marner and team Canada to be better to a man against Sweden. Some reporter on tsn asked him if he thinks he is trying to do to much lol. He said " I'm just playing my game". I laughed hard.

One of the most dominant players in the OHL?

Nah, I was pretty much the only voice of a reason here that knew it was very likely that Marner would end up as a winger at the pro level. If I remember correctly, that was the ultimate selling point on Marner because he played center for like 10 games in the playoffs last year and thus why we should of taken him over Hanifin/Strome. It was and still is foolish to pass up on organizational weaknesses in center/defense to take him. Especially when said player wasn't even BPA on the board. It just reeked of extending the olive branch from Hunter.

To be completely honest, I don't really give a crap about what Marner does in junior. He's supposed to dominate, and anything else should be sending red flags to people.

He can't play anywhere besides his stacked Jr team. Goose egg in camp and garbage showing at wjc. He put up points against Denmark, besides that he's been trash.

Didn't want him drafted, saw this from a mile away. He hasn't proven me wrong yet.

Let's just save ourselves a lot of time, just admit you don't know much about hockey and it is blind hate at this point for Marner.

It's true there's no guarantees re Marner's future success in the NHL, but that can be said about most prospects. That's why they're called "prospects". All players have certain areas they need to work on. There are very few McDavid's. What Marner has going for him is that he's a smart, hard working and very focussed. All scouts are in agreement that has ceiling is extremely high. Anything can happen with Marner or any of these kids. They are kids still don't forget that. Very successful kids I might add. They should be applauded for their achievements todate not bashed. Honestly most negative posts are not understanding that these kids are still developing. They are 2 or 3 years awY from the NHL when they will be 21 or so. 21 is still very young. Don't put added pressure on our boys. They are doing their best and need our full support.

Who cares if he's a winger? Our organizational weakness is talent, period. All this crying over not drafting a D man is a joke, we drafted a talented player who can be developed at any forward position.

So you're asserting that Marner wasn't BPA or an organizational need, and we took him because he's friends with Hunter?

If you believe that, how can you possibly continue to be a fan of this team? That's not a simple draft mistake. That's a completely absurd way to run a franchise and we can be certain this team will never go anywhere with that kind of management.

What reason would I have to hate marner?

He's a small winger who has trouble processing the game against elite competition in his age group. Thats just facts.

Not easy being right all the time. Us "realists" have a tough time on this board.

Yeah, "facts":laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: Nevermind the fact that he's the same height as some of the best players n the game, and still only 18 years old, nope, he's a small winger.

Maybe you need to grab a dictionary and look up the difference between facts and pure subjective opinion.

Maybe you realists have a tough time due to the fact that you present your arrogant opinions as concrete facts? Or maybe it's because you can't let go of these "realist" perspectives regarding a player, even after the decisions have already been made, and you end up just taking out your frustrations on a difference of opinion on said player?

Just a thought.

243 GP in 152GP in the OHL

Hlinka memorial 7 pts in 5GP

U18 tournament - 9 pts in 5GP

3 pts in 3GP so far at the WJC

Yeah he's really struggling, this is getting embarrassing at this point.

Shake your pillow dude. He has nothing to earn more than any other onthe team.

Edit: actually i don't even know what you are talking about. I don't think you watched much did yoy? I'm serious how much of the games did you watch.

Ive watched every game dude. Check the GDT. As a leafs fan, who has seen all of his junior games im not as concerned, but as a canadian fan, I am definitely concerned because I want a gold medal and he's hasnt been as good as he can be in this tournament.

People can ***** and whine about the coach but he's all we have. So what if you think other players have played worse, Lowry is the guy making the decisions so he is the one Marner has to impress in order for him to be placed in the role we want for him.

Seeing his speed vs these world guys is what is hurting the most. Small and average speed is not a great combo when big guys can out skate you and knock you down by just leaning on you a bit.

Ultimate red flags size/speed combination. Hannifin in NHL absorbing and getting better day after day with coaches praise.

Wingers like Patrick Kane are more dominant on the ice than many first line centres.

Don't get too caught up in position - especially with minor league players was where's they play now may not be where they play in the a NHL.

This kid would get lapped by Kane. Just get Patty Kane out of your head because he is not going to be Patty Kane.
