Rutherford is essentially going full Holmgren at this point. He’s in a big hole & keeps digging with a racing clock against him.
He’ll definitely play with Crosby next year and have 60 points and someone will bump this.
I want to add that Kapanen for 15th overall is an overpay in a normal year. But in the middle of a pandemic with no idea of if and when the next season will happen? They really had to rush to do this?
Totally. He we can get a haul near what the Leafs got, I’m all for it. Especially given Scotty’s terrible post season. When third liners come available you gotta do what you gotta do to make it happen.
This is why I’ve been in the sell high on Laughton this summer camp.
What happens when you don’t do your own work and your “reporting” is just reading Twitter. TFP is just Eklund with a magazine. For Jack Johnson,,,,, What the actual f***

Get ready for a behind-the-scenes look at the Stanley Cup Playoffs inside the bubbles.
"Quest for the Stanley Cup," the all-access series that annually takes viewers behind the scenes during the playoffs, premieres at 6 p.m. ET on Sept. 2 on ESPN+ in the United States and on https://www.youtube.com/nhl in Canada, the NHL announced Tuesday.
Emmy-winning producer Ross Greenburg and his team from Ross Greenburg Productions in association with NHL Original Productions will have dual objectives with this season's six-part series.
First, as always, will be to tell the story the competition on the ice for the Stanley Cup, beginning with the experiences of the eight teams that advanced to the second round: the Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins and New York Islanders in the Eastern Conference and the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks in the Western Conference.
Pretty big overpay by the Penguins for Kapanen.
Rebels57 said:I'd probably move our 2019 1st for Kapanen to be honest.
Rebels57 said:Kapanen is already a better defensively, less gritty version of Konecny. That's not worth a pick in the 13/14 range in an "average at best" draft?
Who in that range would you say you would prefer to have in the system instead of having 22 year old Kapanen in the top 9 for the forseeable future?
These quotes were made, only 1 year ago, by you...
It's still funny they have to trade a 1st for a player they drafted 6 years ago. Seems like they always liked him.
Yeah, it's the ultimate win-now mindset and it has actually worked out for them. Their future after Crosby/Malkin does not look very bright, but it doesn't seem they really care. Not when you remember the player they originally traded him for helped them win 2 Cups.
