Pierre Dorion is like Torts in that he realized he has more power in that organization than he should and he's using it because even though he's the GM, he's got nobody above him to hold him accountable for blunders.

Not really sure why Ottawa couldn’t offer a similar contract, unless he was that gung ho to leave. I get he’s from Michigan, but that’s pretty damn team friendly in term. I wonder if DeBrincat isn’t also expecting too much out of HockeyGuys spending on 29 year old roadkill.

Contract status put an end to that. What a horrible outcome for Ottawa. Top 10 pick for one year of him and no playoffs.

Say what you want about the trade, but at least Fletcher locked up Risto long term!

Even if DeBrincat relatively holds up by then yeah it’s probably gonna be hard to beat the perception of a 29 year old undersized scoring winger.

I seriously doubt he’s the type of player that is gonna be able to demand a 5-8 year deal at 29 if he didn’t get it this time.

So Detroit really won here imo. They’re probably gonna get a surplus value in this window. Then they have a potential out at a favorable time if he isn’t worth by that point. But if he is still good there by then there probably is another window of value to potentially be had because he probably won’t cost much again.

Well, that doesn’t sound like bullshit.

Lolz at Puckdoku having a Flyers/Wild square. Today's grid presented by Chuck Fletcher.

Love it when the Flyers show up on Puckdoku. Only way I feel guaranteed a 3. Since I was a) awake at 3 AM, and b) not actually awake, since it was 3 AM, I didn't bother going past Seeler for that one. SO F'N mad about the Habs/Wild square, though.
