Toffoli’s a noticeably better player than Sharangovich. Sharangovich is younger but it’s not like he’s young to the point he’s cheaper labor. He’s 25 & has arbitration rights this summer. So he’s probably gonna price himself out in the long run there anyway. NJ is a legit cup contender so getting the clear upgrade at a modest caphit even if it’s just for next year is worth it to them.

So who was the lone delusional Boston writer didn't vote McDavid as MVP

It was Seth Rorabaugh who is a Pittsburgh writer. He does it every year.

This felt like a pretty straight forward award season this year. Not a whole lot of heated debate. I guess the Norris generated the most but Karlsson still ultimately won comfortably.

Here’s where this guy voted all the winners (performance based ones):

Hart - McDavid (5th)
Norris - Karlsson (N/A)
Calder - Beniers (2nd)
Selke - Bergeron (4th)

Toffoli. 73 points, 24-24 48 at ES.
Now that's probably a fluke year, but he's at worst a top 3rd line forward. At best he's taken a step up to 2nd line status.

Sharangovich is a pretty solid 3C, probably worth at least a 3rd on his own.
So call it (2) 3rds for 1 year of Toffoli at $4.25M.
