Friedman was waived, so that basically means every Flyer that people have bitched about the last five years has been successfully waived this October, while 4 players were claimed yesterday, so teams are claiming waiver players.

Jiricek was sent down to the AHL by CBJ, I thought other teams played their young prospects?
Seems he's being blocked by Gudbranson

You say that as if NAK didn't go to Colorado and become a regular forward on a Cup winning team while the Flyers have had the worst 4th line in the league the past two seasons featuring garbage like Bellows, Bunnaman, Cates J, Deslauriers, Hodgson, Mayhew, MacEwen, Thompson and Willman. Even in Washington he was much more effective than any 4th liner the sad sack Flyers sent out last season, except maybe Allison.

Jiricek is only 19. The prospects who are probably going to miss game 1 for the Flyers are 21-23 years old.

Well, at least it wasn’t 8 years :sarcasm:

Jets can’t win with those 2, but the franchise can’t afford a rebuild , Jets goal is to just make the playoffs.
Well I get locking up Hellebuyck even if I don’t agree with the contract. But I can’t imagine the Jets had much leverage with him because I don’t think there is anyone behind him right?

They’re both still pretty good players. It’s not so much them as it’s the whole team as currently constructed. There’s just nothing in the pipeline that can elevate this team past being a bubble team right now & like 2-3 years from now these guys might not be nearly as good as they are now.

The funny part of Scheifele is just that he's horrendous defensively but the two-way rep lasted well beyond its expiration date because he's big.
Not sure if the stats support it, but they seem to be a much better team when he plays compared to when he doesn’t.

Jets really needed to rebuild
Winnipeg marker won’t allow that.

It is what it is, Jets will always be competitive , but can’t see them ever going far.

Yeah I would say so as that chart lays out he’s still in the 90% percentile of overall effectiveness despite being in the 1% percentile defensively.

Tavares has a similar career arch. He’s generally put some of the worst defensive impacts up since he’s been in the league but for a good bulk of it he was still a 90%+ percentile player overall.

NAK? Who Colorado didn't resign and was waived by Toronto and Washington? :DD

Jiricek was #6, Lycksell 6th rd, Desnoyers 5th rd, Wisdom 4th rd, Allison, late 2nd and started last year, Laczynski 6th rd, Gendron 7th rd, Grans 2nd rd, Samson 6th rd, Ginning late 2nd, Millman 4th rd, Avon UFA.

So you're comparing a top prospect to a bunch of marginal prospects?

Of all those Flyer prospects in the AHL, which ones do you project as top 9/top 5 starters? (i.e. anything more than a 4th line, #6/#7 D-man?

Why are they worried about Sandstrom getting claimed?
Look at the crap Colorado has at backup goalie -

Prosvetov has played in 125 AHL games, setting a .895 save percentage and a nicely-split 54-54-11 record. He’s also added 13 NHL games, recording a .871 save percentage. His most recent NHL experience game just last season, serving as one of three goalies to suit up for Arizona last year.

If you and the Flyers are always right, why is the team so terrible? And how come your assessments always end up wrong?

There is a tendency to forget that Highest Paid lists are cyclical. Recency defines them more than hierarchy among stars.

Why does Howie Roseman consistently beat other teams to their comparable extensions? Because the next guy often gets more.
Hurts was the highest paid/guaranteed QB/etc ever for like...a month wasn't he?

who gives a shit if felix is claimed. much like you say with allison he isn't a prospect any longer and the coach yo idolize does not feel confident in him at all

Isn't it totally hilarious that after waiving Aube-Kubel, the Flyers had the league's worst 4th line for two seasons when they were still trying to compete. :sarcasm: Even though they were near the bottom of the league and had high priority on waivers, their only really good pickup while was Sedlak, and he went back to Europe rather than play for Torts.

Bunnaman - 0P in 15 GP
Cates, J - 1P in 16 GP
Thompson - 2P in 24 GP
Hodgson - 3P in 7 GP
Bellows - 3P in 27 GP
Laczynski - 4P in 33 GP
Ratcliffe - 4P in 10 GP
Lemieux - 6P in 18GP
Mayhew - 6P in 25 GP
Willman - 6P in 48 GP
Sedlak - 8P in 27 GP
Deslauriers - 12P in 80 GP
Allison - 15P in 61 GP
Brown - 16P in 85 GP
MacEwen - 18P in 114 GP

The 21-23 year old prospects who will be sitting out game 1 are some combination of Andrae, Brink, Foerster and Zamula. Andrae wouldn't even be on the team if Risto was healthy.
