Cechmanek was the best goalie we've had basically in 30-40 years. He was definitely weird and seemed like a jerk, but those Flyers teams he was on also choked offensively in the playoffs. The Ottawa series was a disaster, they couldn't put the puck past Patrick Lalime. They scored two goals in the entire series

Roman gave up 7 goals in 5 games

The team did better the next year with Esche in goal, and Cechmanek was below average in LA, and then out of the NHL after that.

25th best SV% out of the 29 goalies to play at least 40 games.

Ok so this season was one of my favorites. Was the plan always to have Esche play though?

I remember going to a Phantoms game and Little gave up the GWG with like 13 seconds left in regulation. Can't remember again who but f*** it was bad.

Every time I hear this name, I keep thinking of Jeff Harding, who played a few games with the Flyers in the 80s and was my PE teacher in HS.

Cechmanek was a 29 year old rookie. So age wise it’s not like he had a whole ton of potential road way in front of him.

But he was ultimately a good goalie in his short time here.

The only game they won was game 1. 1-0. They got shutout the next 3 games and scored in game 5. Dude was definitely a flake but when you give up 7 goals in 5 games it’s hard to put the blame on him. The forwards definitely choked

Every time I hear this name, I keep thinking of Jeff Harding, who played a few games with the Flyers in the 80s and was my PE teacher in HS.

He still had the mullet when I was in HS. One thing I remember him saying is that he thinks men are defective women. Or something along those lines.
