So now Foerster can be sent down because Cam Atkinson may be able to return a 3 and a bad contract if everything goes well and because Jordan Weal didn’t carry over his success.

I get that you’re trying to think this through and see it from their point of view. But read my first paragraph again without the window dressing and tell me you really think this is sound process.

If Foerster needs to be pushed, push him. That’s the coaching staff’s job. But make the default status shooting for upside and then adjust if you don’t think he’s listening after 2 weeks.
I don't think Foerster will be sent down unless for some reason he seriously regresses, If he can't beat out Allison he should be sent down. Allison isn't a bad player, but he's basically a bottom six mucker now (the injuries have taken their toll, he's lost some burst).

My expectation is a third line of Laughton - Cates - Foerster, but like last year it'll be fluid, if Foerster shines and/or Atkinson slips . . .

Allison will probably be the 13th forward, competing with Laczynski and Desnoyers, but if he rebounds, they'll find a spot for him.

Don't care what we get for Atkinson (same with Deslauriers), clear the contract spot, regain a few million in cap room (eat a couple million if need be). Same with Laughton at the TDL or next summer. I think their approach is when a kid shows he's ready, they'll create a spot, but they're not going to open a spot and hope a kid is ready.

If you don't think he'll be sent down you truly have no understanding of this team and how they work.

Oh, Allison also won't be on the team. Both will be better options than players on the roster, but merit has no bearing on how the team works. A major reason you're wrong all the time is that you think it does.

Brought to you by the patient, rebuilding, asset collecting team that retained half of Hayes’ contract for a 6th round pick because they couldn’t even wait 10 minutes to find a better deal.

Now, the Flyers are shrewd value hunters! Forget that Tortorella and Rope probably walk Atkinson around the block every morning.

Ideally one could build a roster that includes six or more young players. It would take jettisoning Laughton, Atkinson, Deslauriers, Seeler, Staal and some others. However some of these guys have value and shouldn’t just be thrown into the garbage can for no return no matter how minimal that may be. Lineup failures on other clubs and injuries will open up opportunities for Briere to make moves. There’s no reason to act prematurely here and just junk a guy for little reasonable return like happened with Hayes.

If they send Allison down do you think we lose him on waivers ? Same with big Z . Personally I think both would be claimed and both would rejoice if they were .

And what happens if they fill the roster with marginal prospects that then stink out the joint?
Oh, it'll help the tank - but will it help develop the young players on the roster, and will it set back the players over their heads for years?

Allison would be claimed.
Zamula maybe.
Laczynski unlikely.

The benefits toward overall draft position are much more valuable than getting an extra meh pick for some of the guys listed.

Especially someone like Konecny.

This isn’t a rebuild, as much as they proclaim it to be simply because they are waiting until next season to sign some FAs. Infusing one youngster in Tyson, picking 7th, is such a waste of a season.

Rebuild my ass. I am excited though for another Snider night, and more alumni being honoured. Who is it this year?

Some people think rebuild is synonymous with tanking and sucking for 5-7 years.
Nothing they do is going to make you happy, might as well become a Devils fan.

I seriously doubt they have any interest in signing a big name FA next summer or the next few years - if Couts is healthy, there's no one they can sign as good or as cheaply. They're more like to extend TK than chase a "name."

I can tell you that "rebuild" is not synonymous with what the Flyers are doing, where nothing has changed.

I don't know why we are talking about Allison. 5 games in he would be injured and out for two months. He should be sent down and if we lose him who cares.

These games in Melbourne should have been to open the regular season
I think the concern there was with the scheduling. It’s a very long trip to do to then come back and jump into games that count after it. The NHL doesn’t make anything off it either. Neither team brought their whole roster.
Did the NHL even market this global series? I swear I didn’t see anything until i was checking scores today and saw a 10 pm start
They did in the country they’re in. Seems to have done well in Australia.

the arena was packed, and it was a super entertaining game so everybody got the best experience possible, especially with that Cooley goal that was great. the crowd loved the fight in the first period too lol, violence brings out the smiles everywhere
