Are teams allowed to practice together during the Four Nations Tournament break? If so, now would be the ideal time to make trades and then adjust the rosters during the tournament.

"Just because it happened doesn't mean it happened"

You are just trolling and we know that.
Go back the last ten years and tell me how many major trades occurred a month or two before the TDL compared to a week before the TDL.

Carolina had been talking to Vancouver for weeks about Miller and Petersson.
Yet a trade never materialized.

Trades require a lot of moving parts, often you have to wait for someone else to make a decision.

For example, Sakic has to decide whether to make a push (add forward depth, upgrade Manson) or write off this season - and he'll probably wait a few weeks before making that decision. Will losing Rantanen cripple their chances? He cleared out cap room for next season by trading Rantanen, he has to find out what's happening with Landeskog (who just started skating) and his LTIR cap room, etc.

For Biere, there is no urgency, he has no "rentals" to move by the TDL.

Why does he have no rentals?

With the cap rising, retaining money has far less value than when the cap was flat, especially the first couple years when teams were taken by surprise when COVID hit. Which is why it no longer makes sense for rebuilding teams to focus on creating cap room for trades.
50% retention for a 3rd is meh, but the Hawks also traded Hall. That is awful asset management.

No urgency and continuous mediocrity is what we can expect going further (chart stolen from X)

Deady give it up, you were wrong. Just admit it.

Are we getting top5 pick? No. Are we capable of reaching playoffs? No. Are we making even small incremental moves for future? No. I want @deadhead to explain how he thinks this team is progressing in next 2-3 years. With what? Accumulating 10-15th picks? A center will suddenly fall in our laps? We'll draft one at ~12th pick and he will develop in 2-3 seasons? Is Luchanko supposedly the answer? What is the plan? Are we supposed to blindly trust FO? No veterans, rentals; what is Eric Johnson then? Play Andrae & Grans, why not? This is just stupid.

"making trades is hard" you know... 🤣

Be prepared for a long diatribe showing how every Flyers prospect drafted in the last 2 years along with all 3 firsts in 2025 will all be on the roster by 27-28 and will have us contending for a Cup.

I don't understand. Carolina is a good team that wins way more than us. That must mean they're more cultured. Why isn't he talking about culture?

Since the culture line was put together, the Flyers have been absolutely f***ing horrible. No, this is not the Cates line, this is "culture" being the forefront of the "rebuild" dating back to Fletcher's time. "Best lockerroom in the NHL".

Can we put the "build from the culture out" mindset to rest already and instead (this might be too big for some to handle...) shift gears and start focus on doing what's necessary to acquire that "mythical" top talent the cup winners have so the Flyers can stop being such a bunch of f***ing has-beens?

Remember those paragraphs penciling Laberge, Myers and what not?
Hive overrating the prospects I guess hehe

Why does he have no rentals?
Because the Flyers have few veterans eligible for UFA.

They extended Seeler and Hathaway b/c it made more sense than trading them for peanuts, then signing other veterans to patch the lineup who might not be as good as fits.

TK and Sanheim are the only other potential veteran trades, and they're on team friendly contracts and young enough to be the veteran core in three years - better than NJ trading a 1st & 2nd and then extending Meier, for example.
