NHL Talk Miscellaneous NHL Discussion CIX: Processing a Tremendous Amount of Insane Information

I don't really expect people to be current on every random Goalie, but Blackwood has been significantly better than Georgiev this year. Who knows how it will change, but that's an attempted upgrade.

Moneypuck has Blackwood in the upper half in the league so far in GSAE/60. Georgiev is towards the bottom of the league.

meanwhile at the Flyers office...

Avalanche would be smart to try to make a play for my boy Gibson. If Anaheim can retain a little, that would be a decent deal imo.

Dostal is the future anyway.

Blackwood is playing better so far this year, but he's coming off three subpar seasons.
Regression to the mean . . .

Yep! Completely reasonable point. I don't know that I would have paid a 2 to do it, but I'm of the opinion that Blackwood was good a long time ago and Georgiev has never been. I recognize my bias here.

That's a reasonable take, and Colorado is a bit desperate, with an average goalie they at least have a fighting chance.

Even with roster degradation Colorado remains really good and they've been getting shredded by abysmal goaltending. Even getting average goaltending is gonna be an upgrade. This could be an interesting move for sure.

So, he can regress to "average" but if he goes to "below average" then they've done a lot of paperwork for nothing. And that's definitely the worry for them; he's playing above his norm. There's a lot of room for that bottom to fall out of, and one would assume not any more upside available.

Florida is another team getting pounded by their own goalies. Wonder if we can interest them in anything.

The Trouba situation reminds me a lot of what happened here with Vinny, but Vinny had a NMC so he couldn't be threatened with waivers. Hextall still managed to strongarm him into agreeing to retire with 2 years and $6,000,000 left on his deal.

Florida has too much money committed to Bob and Knight to move on this season.
And Bob has been close to elite in the POs last two seasons, so they'll probably cross their fingers.
