Rantanen was a guest on Timonen’s podcast and said that he was almost drafted by Philly and had three interviews with them but after some consideration, Philly decided to draft for need.

Rantanen vs Provorov was the debate most of that spring leading up to the Draft. I won't pretend I was upset with the Provorov pick, but I did have Rantanen as my #1 hope at 7 with Provorov as #2.

I remember thinking they might take Crouse. I might have even ranked my top 3 at #7 being Provy, Barzal, Crouse....

And look, he has three straight 20 goal seasons!

Rantanen’s all time lineup (including him) consisting of the players he’s played with
Iginla-Aho-Rantanen
Nummelin-Ristolainen
Saros

Timonen considered this a bold decision considering he plays with Makar, MacKinnon etc. every other night. Rantanen said they don’t understand Finnish so it doesn’t matter (to be honest, he also said that he did not want to tell the obvious answer).

Does this imply Iginla understands Finnish?

Begs the question how good of a player is horvat really. Is he perhaps Hayesesque in terms of his overall impact.

Patrik Stefan's kid signed with the Oilers. Stefan went first overall in what would have been my draft year (1999) had I had skills for the show. ... seems crazy to me that he has a 20 year old kid. :amazed:

How was James Stefan with your hometown Hawks, @PDX Flyer?

Oh man putting me on the spot. I’ve only caught a handful of games over the last two seasons. He seemed to be always putting up points but I never keyed in on him. I’m always trying to reverse jinxSotheren and wishing we drafted Cagnoni.

Honestly don’t have much input. Work has gone loco and have not been following. Now I’ll have to look up a game to catch

think it'd be better with a plain number but otherwise those are fire. Locals should snap those up. Someone should get a raise for that.

If the Caps really thought this through they'd have made a bunch, gotten a vending permit from USPP, and would have a stand at the Tidal Basin. Free money at peak bloom.

I agree 100%. Plain number and these are a 10/10, but I still give them a 9.5. They are beautiful
