If you ever feel bad about yourself, just know that every single one of you on this board could have scored at least one NHL hat trick in those eras.

The Islanders not wearing anything special for their walk in is so classically Lou.

The Rangers ride in on fire trucks and walk in with NYPD and NYFD.

Tahoe was an unmitigated disaster, but I think they had the right idea in gorgeous outdoor scenery instead of concrete. These stadium games are awful to watch and totally bland.

But really they need to go back to the original model for outdoor games:

I think you could be on to something, minus the convicts. Tahoe is an unreal place. I've spent a lot of time there. In a different non-mess-of-a-year, I might've driven up for that game. There's a bunch of insane beautiful places near NHL teams. Banff near Calgary, near one of the great lakes for a few different teams. a million places near the Canucks. Hell, even an outdoor game near Niagra falls between the laffs and swords. Instead of having a massive stadium to bring in people to have a shitty in person experience, make it small in person, but a TV extravaganza. Mystery-Alaska style...

I want it so remote and natural that organizing it feels like a Werner Herzog film: Bettman, the Wrath of God. If multiple ice maintenance workers don’t lose their minds in the process, the NHL didn’t do its job.
