How crazy is it that a 20 year old is our best bottom 6 forward.

I have to say I did not expect this at all and thought he would not be that great. Happy to be proved wrong

Same here. It certainly is a good sign that the team can promote some players internally over the next few years. Kampf and Jarnkrok can disappear any time without being missed. Minten is a better C than either of them going forward.

Turns out keeping some high end draft picks is a good thing eh?

But seriously it just makes the Hunter / Lou era hurt that much more. So many busts, we likely have a cup by now if we had a steady stream of young talent coming up like this allowing us to actually have depth.

But the last few years is highway robbery for us. Knies, Minten both 2nd rounders Grebenkin 5th rounder, Woll 3rd rounder all playing key roles for our team right now. Not to mention Holmberg and Robertson who while underwhelming still were successful picks

And we didn't even get to see our highest draft pick in Amirov, who likely would have been a decent part of this team now too.

I prefer this line of thinking a lot more than what they did with Robertson.

Hopefully, this means Reaves is out.

Also, this is an example of a player who looked like nothing special in the CHL transitioning well because he plays a mature game.

Just pointing this out for anyone who is following Danford and is disappointed.

This isn't guaranteed, but I think he is a similar kind of prospect to Minten in that sense.

Seems likely they send Greb back to the Marlies to play more and A. Nylander on waivers. I would not be surprised if Reaves is in the pressbox if/when McMann and Domi are back.

What they need to do is dump some of these chumps that are on IR and don’t contribute Jack sh!t even when they are healthy.
If you have to manage your team based on waivers that’s incompetence at its finest.

There are lot of similarities between the game Minten plays and Ryan O'Reilly back with the blues
Not heavy as O'Reilly but same poise and defensive awareness

So I can see why he would want him to stay up. Is anyone here really missing David Kampf, or Jarnkrok or Reaves?

Put them on waivers. If there are takers great. if there are none, they can come in go in line up

Pacioretty needs a spot too, so will Jarnkrok if he ever comes back... there is no room for Reaves

Jarnkrok probably is out for the season. Might make an appearance in the playoffs but we would have to be desperate to insert someone injured all year.

And yes Pacioretty will get a spot, but sounds like he's not really close.

Posted this yesterday, although reading it now "feel really good" may not mean he's close.

Pacioretty is not eligible to come off long-term injured reserve until Saturday when the Leafs visit the Pittsburgh Penguins.

“Some of it’s not in my control, but I feel really good,” Pacioretty said.

“My step today was the first practice with the team. This time of year, those don’t come too often and took advantage of that. I’m sure we’ll figure out the next step.”

He's defensively responsible, he's smart, he's coachable, he has offensive upside, he's already somewhat decent on the dot, he's good in the room, he's a center, exactly where we need one. Why wouldn't you keep him? So long as he gets 13-15 a night, there is no downside to playing up here. The only caveat, now we're playing a lot, can he keep up the pace?

Berube says Minten making a strong case to stay even when Leafs get healthy "If he can help us, I want him here. He's a type of player that we like. A lot."No practice, but Fraser back on ice for extra work todayLeafs coach compares work ethic to Tavares

Berube loves him like a son already. Knies, Minten, Grebenkin and Holmberg are his beloved children. One big happy family

He is a sponge
Iam so so glad thar Berube is showing this young players how to play the right way.

Now we know why management gave him a guaranteed spot onvthe team.

He’s exceeded expectations but I think we have to remember that he’s not no Adam Brooks…..

Let’s Go Fraser! <done in best Howard Cosell voice yelling “DOWN GOES FRASIER!!!>

He's all but certainly eaten Robertson's lunch, likely Kampf's and Dewar's as well. I'd be very surprised if we send him down, I don't think the org is particularly concerned if any of those guys go on waivers if that means keeping Minten up. Wonderful to see a young guy thriving like this, we desperately need this next wave of young guns like Knies and Minten to be legit players if we want to be anything more than continual first round food.

Dense schedule right now means they get a good look at him for a few more games before having to decide. Hopefully Minten keeps it up. He really is pretty cool under pressure.

Learning from the 2 best goals scorer scorers and the best passer in the game and Berube
