Nobody "wants" to get rid of Zuccarello, but Fiala is 25, Dumba is 27 and Zuccarello is 34. It's something that absolutely should be factored into the equation.

No doubt. I remember defending the Leddy/Barker trade way back, yet here I am, still having takes.

Further, when the dead cap is gone and this team is actually trying to compete, Fiala will be 29 and Zuccarello will be 38. Frankly, it's a no f***ing brainer to explore trading Zuccarello instead.

I’m glad we could re-kindle the Fiala vs Zucc hate. It had been too long. Both are fabulous players. Not that Zucc has followed the typical Carter progression, but he’s due to fall off much sooner that Fiala.

Oh for sure! I am just wondering if you trade both for assets. I just don’t see us being real contender until after the buyouts are done. Only way is if Rossi is really a #1 center. Even then our D and goaltending needs to improve.

Two things happened right before this team fell apart - Dumba went down and Talbot came back. Our defense appears to need Dumba, which is a surprising development given how he was in the past, and Kahk may be the better of our two goalies right now. But this team's biggest issues are on the back end and that is where we should be focusing our attention.
