Hartman is a better player than Rossi at this point. Faster, much stronger, better defensively, FO's, and shot. IMO, Dewar is a better player than Rossi right now, though I'll concede that Rossi is a better puck handler and passer, though not by a lot.
Rossi simply isn't ready.

Or, he could be.

If the Wild find a way to keep Fiala and sign Meyers, they could have an incredibly deep forward group next season.

Zucc - Hartman - Kap
Boldy - Rossi - Fiala
GREEF
Gaudreau - Meyers - Jost

---------------------------------------

Still very confused what we're doing with the defense though. It doesn't seem like they'd trade Kulikov since he's worth his $2.25M and he's a good player to have on the roster for Kap. However, this team clearly struggles on the back-end when they're missing Dumba. There's no one they can go out in FA to sign to replace him either because they've already got a full defensive roster with the Goli signing.

LD: Brodin, Middleton, Kulikov, Goli, Merrill
RD: Spurgeon, Dumba, Addison

Maybe they'll see what they can get Middleton signed to on a 3-year deal and if it's not affordable, he's the odd man out. Still feels like Dumba might be the guy that's being traded though. Middleton replaces the physical game that Dumba brings & Addison replaces the offensive game.

I love Addison’s puck moving ability especially on the right but I see Blues and Preds knocking him around easily. Especially on the PK. Can’t be any worse than Benn though.

The fact that they signed Goligoski for two more years, with a NMC at that, makes me feel that Guerin has a completely different way of looking at hockey than i do.

Agreed, but at least he is reasonably fast and can handle the puck on breakouts, as well as being vg on the PP/O zone. He is not tall, but is thick and is gritty. I just don't see Benn laying out guys and winning puck battles, or covering guys in front. There is just no upside there. He doesn't do much of anything well...he doesn't even fight.

Jost seems to need a player with speed (Fiala) to succeed.

I could see Boldy thriving on the 3rd line in Foligno’s spot. He might find success with Duhaim and Deslaurier on the 4th line, but it’s gonna be much harder to get on the score sheet; I feel like that line barely contributes offensively.

Unless something drastic happens it look like we are facing STL in the 1st round. The only question is who gets home ice.

Surprised we've only played them two times this season, with only one more on the schedule. We're 0-1-1 against them with 7GF and 10GA in those two games.

Kaprizov has 2g, 2a
Fiala has 2g
Hartman has 1g, 1a

9 other players have 1 point

How is it possible that we're playing a divisional team only 3 times? I know we added Arizona to the Central, but I thought it would still be minimum of 4.

We're also only playing Arizona three times. Chicago, Winnipeg, Colorado, Dallas and Nashville will be four times though. I think it's just fallout from them scheduling at least two against every other team this season?

I feel like the Goli re-signing has to have had more to do with the "handshake" agreement that they made prior to the season. Guerin may have gave Goli the chance to re-neg on the offer and test FA (where he definitely would've received more), but Goli decided he'd rather stay here.

It's either that or Dumba is being traded imo.

I think there's always been home & away games each team in the league, so that accounts for 62 games. I assume we play an additional game against each of the West teams (77 games) & then the remaining 5 games are within our division.

I'd prefer if they got rid of the requirement that you need to play 2 games against Eastern Conference opponents & instead delegated that to divisional games. Teams should be playing 4-5 games against each team in their division at a minimum (and they should be a balanced amount too).

Spurgeon(NMC)
Brodin(NMC)
Dumba
Kulikov
Goligoski(NMC)
Merrill
Middleton(please, for the love of God!)

All signed for next year. Addison chomping at the bit down in Iowa. IMO, Middleton is the 4th bext Dman that we have, and besides that, adds an element of solid D and grit that we desperately need. If he is re-signed, someone will have to go? Kulikov?

How about the face off wins? Hartman and Ek were both great against LA?
I hope they are getting better or are the Kings mailing it in?

Small sample but Middleton is exactly the type of defence you need to beat heavy teams like Nashville and St. Louis.
Addison I’d love to see come up but I worry not so much on dump in breakouts but defensive zone lost draws. Can he block out the net front? I don’t watch the games but I read Addisonn has 10 misconduct penalties? Seems he doesn’t have any discipline. That’s a huge problem with the state of the Wild PK.

And 1 of those is the WC so really only one real game.

Will it even matter. In the past three seasons our record is 2-7-4 against them. Son of a @#$$!
Eh, I'd take that with a grain of salt. The Wild's record was very good against Vegas before the playoffs, and also quite good against he Blackhawks a couple of those seasons when they destroyed us in the playoffs. Stuff doesn't always go as expected in 7 game series.

71games GF 263 fantastic, GA 222 so far. we will finish over 240GA which i think is terrible. i blame the D, others blame the goaltending. suter / soucy / cole better than goligoski / kulikov / merrill / benn. feel free to prove me wrong. ps calgary only 178GA!
