I tend to agree, but if the whole league is really doing this throwback thing it makes sense. They're not technically a part of Wild history but they're a big part of Minnesota hockey history.

What about the Minneapolis Millers? That'd be better and lot more fun.

Plus the color scheme is great.

Can't fault you there.

I think if we're weighing the cultural weight and overall impact of teams like the Millers and the Saints against the North Stars the winner is pretty clear.

Of course what we're actually weighing are jersey sales, and North Stars stuff basically prints money. If the Wild can divert some of that revenue to themselves (as opposed to the league, who I think holds all the North Stars trademarks), they're gonna.

That it does; though I do wonder if Dallas holds all the North Stars trademarks, not the NHL (see the Avalanche/Nordiques, Whales/Hurricanes).

The North Star’s organization still exists. If anyone is going to have North Star Jerseys, it will be Dallas.

Let it die already! The North Stars moved longer than the team was in existence.
I'm sorry our hockey history is so offensive. Many here happen to be very fond of those memories.

I for one love the idea!
Correct, all North Stars logo/ official history was forfeited to the league in the move.
Neither Dallas or Minnesota can utilize it without league approval.

Dallas for their part have made great effort to separate themselves from it for the most part since it has little to no influence on their fans.

There is a difference being fond of those memories and whining about it. I'm fond of the Aeroes, but don't whine about Minnesota moving a historic team to Iowa.

The Houston Aeros are a historic team now?

Who was whining, it was just pointed out that they were thinking of using North Stars colors.

9 years of existence makes them historic, 26 years makes a team forgettable... and everyone should ignore they existed.

Yes, they are. They have a long history - and while they were defunct between 78-94, the Aeros name and tradition have a storied past. And yes, it is a historic team. They were one of two teams in Texas (making in roads in the south), and have won one Turner Cups and one Calder Cups. They had close to 20 years of history, which is pretty long for an AHL team.

Who was whining, it was just pointed out that they were thinking of using North Stars colors.

Anytime the North Stars coming up, people tend to bash Dallas for the move.

What? The Houston Aeros were in existence 19 years and you know, actually won two Championships. No one is saying that the North Stars shouldn't be remembered, but Minnesota actually has a team again now (you know the Wild) and should celebrate their 20 years of history without including the North Stars into that. The Wild feel like the red-headed step child to the North Stars. No matter what the Wild do, they will always be the second favorite team in Minnesota.

I generally consider teams like Montreal, Toronto, Detroit historic.

I guess the Houston Aeros are (were) the Red Wings of the AHL.

Without the Aeros, I don't think hockey would have flourished as well as it did in the South.

I love what Dallas did; and I think this might be a neat jersey to look copy for next year's Winter Classic:

Has ties to the Golden Gophers (the colors), one of the original hockey teams formed in Minnesota and a generic M.

The Wild franchise has always EMBRACED the history of hockey in Minnesota. They know that the North Stars are a HUGE influence on that and embrace that fact. The fans love them for it.

Minnesota already paid homage to them with the old script jersey using that very M.

Bottom line. The Wild know their audience. Their audience is a fan of the local hockey history that includes the North Stars. They would be fools to ignore that, thus it should be no surprise considering who the targeted consumers are, the idea of using North Stars colors.

Anytime the North Stars coming up, people tend to bash Dallas for the move.
That has nothing to do with this thread. The idea was presented that the Wild were considering using North Stars colors, you said let it go... I said sorry our history is so offensive to you, and that I loved the idea... you then claimed we're whining.

There has been zero whining about anything, just liking the idea of honoring our NHL past, and you seem to really dislike that we would like that.

Dumba, Hunt(both with 7), and Koivu(5) are last on the team(of those who get regular playing TOI) with ES points. Players like Soucy and Rask are ahead of them. Mikko has missed about 12 gp, but that is still pitiful. Dumba and Hunt are supposed to be offensive players, and unlike Koivu, aren't known for their D. Dumba and Koivu, in particular, need to be in the middle of the pack in ES scoring at the very least.

I appreciate Koivu's game, but if he doesn't pick it up I think that our GM will be having a very difficult chat with him in the off season.

Hunt has to be looking over his shoulder at a player like Mennell.

Good news is, Dumba looked like a beast in the last game. Maybe he's finally getting back to his normal self. Maybe this was just a tougher injury for him to come back from than anyone expected?

Being back with Brodin, has allowed him to be much more offensive, as he knows that Brodin and Hunt are world's apart when it comes to playing D. Also playing in front of his hometown had him charged up.

What I saw was Dumba playing like a 4th forward out there. That can come back to bite you in the form of odd man rushes against. What I want to see from him is offense without him cheating on D so much. When he plays like that Brodin has to hang back all the time, taking away from his offense, which doesn't help the team .

Suter, Spurgeon, and Soucy(and Brodin, this year), all seem to be able to contribute offensively without sacrificing D. Having said all that, if he can get his confidence back by overplaying on offense for a few games then it might be good in the long run.

There will be 8 D on roster next week when Seeler gets back.
It's possible to keep all 8 but i don't think so, Something has to give.
