When Corey f***ing Perry is faster than you, it's time to retire. Yesterday.
If you're the second slowest player in the league, all those turnovers cost more than the few secondary assists you get playing with Kap.

Guess Jason Robertson and Matthew Tkatchuk should retire, too.

It's a weird list. Like, a lot of the guys listed there aren't the fastest but a good game sense is still the best shortcut. Did expect to find Trenin there, though.
 
So not exactly sure how this works. If Spurgeon is out can we LTIR him hope he comes back for playoffs? Wouldn't that really help our deadline cap that we were struggling to gain because all our other injuries?

Depends. We can't accrue cap space if we're over the limit with LTIR, but if he happened to magically make a full recovery for game 1 of the playoffs, no sooner, we could use his 7.5M to add someone.

I’d rather have a healthy Spurgeon (obviously).

I believe the reason for this teams resurgence is partially due to having some more consistency on the defensive side. Some people on this forum were pretty negative towards the impact that Spurgeon actually has on this team & I fear we’re about to see exactly what that is.

Agreed jiracek might be the shiny new toy. That shine can wear off real quickly
 
Injuries suck and it will be difficult to replace Spurgeon, but I believe there’s an opportunity to bring new (and important) elements into the roster that can help the Wild. The Wild really struggle to score outside of in front of the net outside of a couple of guys. I’m excited to (hopefully) add Jirecek into the lineup and try to leverage his shot to generate easy offense.

I think Spacek will get a shot before Jiricek, but knowing this management team, Cecconi will be called up before either of them.

I actually think this Kaprizov-less stretch could be a good thing for the Wild. The stretch before the playoffs 2 years ago was good for the Wild. The Wild had been becoming too reliant on Kaprizov scoring. This stretch will force other players to be more aggressively and assertive offensively. There will be some bumps but I think it will be net good. I would argue they have played pretty well so far beating a good Dallas team and with last nights scoring outburst. I would argue they actually played pretty well offensively against Ottawa but 4 (5?) posts were pretty unlucky. Boldy is getting like 10 shot attempts per game but has been absolutely snake bitten with posts and saves. Ek back helps this a lot too.

I think most of those conversations were had back when Suter was here and we had one of the best D corps in the league, but yeah
