I know the above is tongue in cheek, but I have to say I am not liking Hartman's game, at all. Loses puck battles, doesn't get the puck out of the zone, and can't produce offense on his own. A big deal was made about him losing 15 lbs. this year coming into camp, but I never thought of him as being sluggish or slow prior to this year. Now, he looks weaker to me, and i don't see him being any faster.

The only forwards he is outscoring(by a slim margin) are 4th liners, AHL'ers, and Trenin, and that's with him getting PP2 TOI. He is far below his scoring pace of the previous three years.

I agree completely. He is totally ineffective. There is no urgency to his game at this point. No offense, no physicality, no edge. One of my bigger disappointments this season.

He’s looking very slow. Still winning a lot of battles but he wasn’t exactly a guy who could afford to lose a step. Always been a streaky scorer, so I’m expecting a hot streak in 2025

Hartman and Ek have both had forgettable seasons so far.
JEE started out great, but then sat out a game or two due to a LBI. Hasn't been the same since, and they finally took him out. Hartman... I haven't seen him play consistently well all season.

Rossi and Gaudreau's good play at C making up for those two has been super helpful.

Just got to keep grinding out points till the roster is healthy again. Hopefully the "rest of the best" does not pick up new injuries in that process. Still a very long way to go in the season. It really is a fight almost every night and there is almost no "cruise control" games for the Wild right now. Hope this does not comme back to bite them later on. Medical staff has to do good work.

Yup, Hynes said in the post game as much. Nothing wrong with PK structure, just need to be more consistent, details, etc. They're gonna die on it instead of admitting it's garbage. I guess enjoy another fun regular season because come playoffs we're out in one again.

How blind can you be? Do they watch other teams at all? Even in the OT.....Utah was hounding us the whole 200ft. He'll Kap had trouble skating it in a half dozen times. We just float in and setup and welcome them in.

PK is the same, just collapse and let the leagues elite snipers coast into the dots and pick a corner.

It's actual insanity. The players and Goalies by now gotta be like......wtf are we doing? A 30 game sample is enough here.

I mean - honestly, do you think you or I know better than the coaches or the GM?

It's in their heads now as well. That split second of doubt makes a lot of difference when you are a man short. It is very hard to get out of that PK funk once it starts to be a thing. Trying different players is maybe their biggest tool but that will maybe impact other parts of the game where you want those players fresh and not bogged down by their PK duties. This is a fine line to walk and I agree with the staff that it's a lot of little things that contribute to the current failure of the PK and not really a complete system failure.

I mean take Gus as an example what confidence does to your game. He is not that much different this season from his best season two years ago. But last year his confidence was shot and he started to doubt his decision making and skill. Look what a reboot (offseason) did to his game. He didn't fundamentally change his approach but his confidence is back and he matured as well making him less likely to doubt his game again. It is very very hard to get such a reset during the season however.

Right now the PK is hurting the Wild but not killing them. There is still time to fix it with small adjustments and "a little hope" that when EK and Brodin are back that problem might solve itself. A lot of maybes, a lot of mights. But risking their overall game to fix their PK is not necessary right now. "Just" don't take any penalties right? Easiest fix of them all.

Well.deyails and execution are critical sure. I'm no coach, nor a wizard but my eyes tell me that putting ZERO pressure on the puck and collapsing hasn't worked. My eyes also watch teams that do pressure the puck......and I see the effects is all I can say. The OT last night was glaring imo. They had a guy hounding the puck the entire 200ft. We did not. They forced more than several bad breaks and disrupted the carrier a dozen times. We did not.

I mean - honestly, do you think you or I know better than the coaches or the GM?
I see what i see. That is all. And 30 games worth seems an ample viewing size. Time will tell but that's running short

They are also missing key parts of the PK right now with Ek and Brodin. Putting pressure on guys on the PK is great until it turns into chasing guys on the PK. You need the players for that and I don’t see those players on the Wild except for Marat. They are too slow to really execute that well right now. LA for example did very well against us with that approach. But by far not everyone in the league is putting pressure on the opposing team shorthanded. It’s not the be all end all solution.

Regarding yesterday: you need to pressure dangerous players who get the puck in their wheelhouse. So Keller having the puck twice from where he is best at without being pressured is exactly the kind of detail they need to fix. Better preparation, better execution whichever failed yesterday.
