Here was Dean's quote on Ek:

Eriksson Ek is by far the most important player on that team. I watched him last night. You don’t get the appreciation when you’re sitting on your couch watching this guy. He is an absolute horse, an absolute warrior. He is just incredible. So to answer your question, in the playoffs, yes. They need to get to the playoffs and go in healthy and stay healthy. Every single year we have had an amazing number of injuries heading into the playoffs and during. Look at Vegas last year. They didn’t get hurt. Do we believe injuries played a massive part in our playoff inability? One hundred percent.

That interview just makes me sad, Dean is a class act. Real shame there wasn’t more patience, a Woods ousting probably would have had the same impact. But time to move on I suppose, spilled milk under the bridge and all that.

Good insight into the team, mostly just backs up what we have seen here.

Dean seems to imply he might have also left if Woods was fired, so this might have been the only option anyway.

Here was Dean's quote on Ek:

Assuming we can take Dean at his word, he is one classy dude. I disagree that they could have pulled out of this without any big changes, and I think he should try to find his mistakes and learn from them, but I like his attitude.

JEE's been injured in the playoffs more than I'd realized. I hope he stays healthy and has some good series in a row. I'd love to rebrand him Mr. May.

No hearing for Kap which means no suspension possible.

The Chicago game should be fun if we keep playing how we have been, could see plenty of offense in that one too.

I think the lack of GA's on the PK, and in general, is the big change. Don't know how long it will last.

Looking at the very limited splits between Evason and Hynes it's a pretty startling difference. The last 2 games it hasn't even just been goaltending, totally different effort.

Against Per 60EvasonHynes
Corsi 12986
Shots 6945
Expected Goals 10.184.06
Scoring Chance72.548.8
High Danger Chance30.53.8

Now STL is one of the worst PP teams in the league, and NSH is around the middle but still.... dang.

Team knows they are next on the chopping block. Evason was fine. The players are the ones at fault. Just look at the first game when Evason was gone. Hynes had no time to implement anything, yet they dominated play.

Gustavsson is playing well and we’re winning puck battles at a higher rate. Still need to get Kaprizov and Boldy going at even strength if we really want to lose in the first round.

Dean's message was beyond stale in their ears. It happens.

The new coach effect, two parts relief at hearing a new voice, one part new systems (ignore this for the first couple games), and a dash of fear of the loss of your roster spot.

It works for about 20 games. I wonder what would happen if a team just kept firing coaches every 20 games one year. They'd win the Cup, right?

It pisses me off that Foligno is wearing the "A", instead of JEE. Just shows how out of touch BG/Dean are.

He might be great in the dressing room, whatever the hell that means, but JEE is the leader on the ice that I want the other players to emulate, not Mr. BumblePuck.
Where's the statline for "good in the room" as I heard someone say.? Can Moose guzzle a Surly faster than anyone else?

Practice today...

Hartman on the 4th line, he needs to learn how to control his emotions.

Fleury will play tomorrow.

Can we have a moment of silence for the tank? Gone too soon.

This is the "regression" to the "mean". I've always expected them to finish just high enough to lose in the first round and not get a true impact player in the draft.

But if Faber really can turn into an all situations top D and Rossi really can turn into a top line center and Wallstedt is the real deal goaliefield, this team may have the makings of a team that loses in the 2nd or even 3rd round once in a while.

Inject me with this lineup next season:

Kaprizov-Yurov-Zuccarello
Boldy-Rossi-Mojo?:(
Foligno-Ek-Hartman

Brodin-Faber
Mids-Spurgeon
Hunt-
