what would be the asking price for Eriksson Ek if say he was available?

Don’t think he’d ever be available. 26yo shutdown center signed to a good deal for a long time. I wouldn’t move him for 2 firsts personally. 1 really high one though I maybe would.

IMO, he has top 5 value at the least, considering his contract/skills/trajectory. All you have to do is look at the top 5 players picked in every draft to realize that not only do you have to wait for them to develop, but that they also can end up disappointing. Most GM's, and organizations, simply don't have the patience for that.

I would not trade him for a top 5 in this draft. Celebrini, obviously, probably Eiserman and Demidov, but after that ... too early to say for sure, but is Dickinson or Catton a sure thing to be better than JEE?

To be fair, if they were a sure thing to be better than JEE, the GM's probably wouldn't trade those picks for JEE. If the pick looks like a sure thing (Celebrini), it won't get traded for an older, more expensive sure thing. I can't ever see a team's fanbase being ok with trading a top pick (Eiserman, Demidov) for JEE, because they're probably not a JEE away from contending.

That just leaves us with the rest of the top-10, and then is it attractive for us still? I guess that depends on what's accompanying the pick. What level of sweetener would do it for you?

There is nothing that interests me in trading JEE. A #7 pick + 3rd does nothing for me. JEE is very valuable because of his age and contract status, beyond his value on the ice. I would far rather trade Brodin, who I really like, than JEE.

Is Gaudreau grouped with the other 3 forward extensions yet? 0 points in 9 games, demoted to the 4th line, signed for 4 more years after this one with trade protection from half the league. I get that he was signed before Guerin was able to officially talk to the trio that extended, but with those 3 all signed his contract was pointless, and looks worse than 2/3 of those extensions. Can't wait for him and Foligno to make up 2/3 of our 4th line from 2026-28 for over 6M while the buyouts are still going to be eating 1.667.

BG was so unbelievably adamant regarding those early extensions. He wanted toughness and has been so damn focused on having as many cheerleaders in the lockerroom that he could find even if it meant passing up a guy with actual skill. It was about finding his "type" of players even if it meant handshake deals and handing out NMC's to handcuff the team.

I hate these losses. But the silver lining is watching this blow up in his face. He should be questioned every single day about what he was thinking when making some of these deals.

On a side note...

Hopefully Guerin goes with Dean. The extensions were completely inexcusable
Agreed... but I think Mr. Big Balls is safe until the year after the buyouts are gone . Unfortunate, because you're right, those extensions are bad bad (I can stomach Hartman to some extent). If Dean gets the axe soon it's basically nothing more than a shakeup / publicity stunt at this point.

Lol. Only the Sharks have won fewer games than us. Loser points really do kind of skew just how bad this team is right now (and it's bad even with said loser points, I get it)
