Parise is certainly not the player he once was, but he’s averaging over 16 minutes per game and would be 5th on the Wild in both goals and points. But it could have been. I'm the GM. I can buy out whoever I want. Parise can't stop me from buying him out. Suter can't stop me from buying out Parise.
The fact was that Parise was DONE as a player, but Suter was not.

This may be a testament to how bad the Wild actually are, though.
Reaves was thought to be making the team worse. Figured that would be right up your alley.Or we could not trade for Reeves and play Fleury for the majority of the starts. I mean San Jose has Hertl, Coulture and Karlsson and is looking at a top pick.
The team won't just actively tank unless you gut it or there are injuries. You act like it's just a freaking switch, where we can just decide to lose to get a top pick and then flip it back on when the buyouts are done. It doesn't work that way. This is such a weird statement. So, instead of using the next two years to rebuild a team and load the team up with talent in the draft and getting a lot of cap space when the cap restraints end, they are going to try and push toward the playoffs? They need to shit or get off the pot at this point. One and done is pretty much the new motto for Minnesota teams.
They should be open to Domi and Dvorak. Whether or not you want them doesn't really matter. Both of them could help this team potentially reach the 2nd round, have lower cap hits and wouldn't cost a top prospect to acquire. Toews wouldn't cost Rossi and Horvat would probably cost a 1st+b prospect. No to Domi, Monahan or Dvorak. Would you be fine trading Rossi because guys like Toews and Horvat is going to cost at least that, if not more. And that's the thing, Minnesota fans don't want to trade their prospects, but they also don't want to do anything to improve the team. When was the last time Minnesota traded for a player that was top 30 in their position? Pominville?
It's hilarious how backwards this is currently speaking. But it could have been. I'm the GM. I can buy out whoever I want. Parise can't stop me from buying him out. Suter can't stop me from buying out Parise.

It’s weird. It’s pretty much the same people that are worried Kap is going to leave after his contract is up because the Wild suck.Reaves was thought to be making the team worse. Figured that would be right up your alley.
Fleury already is getting a majority of the starts. He also has a better record than Gustavsson.
If that was your plan... There's no shot of us getting a top 5 pick.

I'm okay with trading our prospects when the moment is right. That moment is the season after next.
Ideally, we could pull something like Dumba (50%) for a 1st+prospect, sign Faber, and 2nd for Domi/Dvorak this season. We don't lose a draft pick or prospect in the system, and the team is better.:

I had something like this written up but decided to not post it. Sounds like a great pitch to the guy,So the solution is to suck harder? Making Kap happier? I don’t understand this logic at all
Kap is gone no matter what we do. We should trade him now instead of watching him Gaborik usIt’s weird. It’s pretty much the same people that are worried Kap is going to leave after his contract is up because the Wild suck.

I do think that getting a top center is probably only done through the draft. It's just not realistic given our current roster. It does suck, but it is what it is.It’s weird. It’s pretty much the same people that are worried Kap is going to leave after his contract is up because the Wild suck.

There's a lot of overlap maybe, but they are not tree exact same groups of people. It’s weird. It’s pretty much the same people that are worried Kap is going to leave after his contract is up because the Wild suck.

But 7 5v5 points ties him for ninth on the Wild. Tied with Foligno and Gaudreau.I'd wonder how sustainable those numbers are. He's got 7 5v5 points, 4 PP points. If he were here he'd likely have 0-1 PP points, and the 4 even strength points he's got that aren't at 5v5 probably wouldn't exist either.
I don't think he'd be put in the position to get those points here like he is there.
Beckman and Walker recalled... did I miss something?
NM. Forgot Shaw suspension and Moose hurt
It's still interesting that they would call up Beckman and Walker to replace Shaw and Foligno. Their roles don't overlap at all. I mean I suppose either of the AHL guys could play fourth line, but they don't bring the same elements Shaw does.
The callup options in the AHL are Cramarossa, Petan, Fogarty, Rossi, Beckman, and Walker. One could argue for or against any of them, but none are great options. Walker and Beckman seemed to play the fastest and try the hardest of that group.
Milne seems like he is the closest to what Shaw is as a player, but I think he needs more seasoning before he's ready for a callup.
Might not know if you don't try. Cramarossa, Petan, Fogarty and Rossi don't move the needle this season. I'd be on board with seeing what Milne looks like on the fourth line. But I also don't care which one of those callups it is (apart from Rossi, don't want him back here yet).
Can someone explain to me how we are going to make the cap work for next year?

This roster uses $66.3M with the roster + dead cap. If the cap increases by $1M as expected, that leaves $17.2M to sign 1C/2RW (depends on Hartman), 2C, Boldy, two 4th liners, one pressbox forward, Addison, Faber and Gus.
Boldy ~ $6.5M
Addison ~ $3M
Faber ~ $.925M
Gus ~ $2.5M
4th liner ~ .8
4th liner ~ .8
4th liner ~ .8
That's $15.325M, leaving roughly $1.875M for 1C/2RW and 2C. IF Rossi takes one spot, roughly $1M for the other...
Are we content with a guy like Walker having that other spot full time? Are we going to trade Addison/Gus? Lowball some guys? Bridge Boldy so save cap? Hope MAF retires? Trade current cap (Goli, MAF, Greenway, Zucc)?
I certainly didn't expect Gus and Addison to be playing as well as they have.
This offseason is going to be a shit show.
Always keeping our expectations as low as possible, after years of painWow, looking at this thread for the first time in a while. Had I no knowledge of the current situation, I'd think the Wild were in the situation of St. Louis, or Nashville, out of the playoffs, but not in the lottery hunt.
You's a gloomy bunch.
Wait a month and we’ll all sound the same and we’ll be in the exact position you described. A ridiculous winning streak against bottom feeders has bolstered the MN homers once again.Wow, looking at this thread for the first time in a while. $5.5M for Gus and Addison is a huge overestimation imo.Can someone explain to me how we are going to make the cap work for next year?

I don’t think it’s an overestimation. Gus has been playing better than MAF, but he’s still a RFA so I gave him $1M less. Addison is on pace for over 40 points. $3M almost seems like a steal if he’s capable of more. What do you see them getting?$5.5M for Gus and Addison is a huge overestimation imo.
I could see them trading Gus for an ELC player/pick and bringing up Wallstedt next season. Or hopefully Fleury just retires and they don’t have to worry about that extra year on his contract.
I have thought this so many times this season. But I also understand why people are gloomy around here. This team isn't improved on last year's, and last year's was one-and-done. I also think the people here aren't seeing any light at the end of the tunnel now that the top prospect didn't perform right away.Wow, looking at this thread for the first time in a while.
