"Identity Line" or "Hemi" - which is worse?

Hemi by far, because it makes no sense to me.

I don't mind the identity line, because it's true. It is overused by the Wild broadcast crew though. Watching neutral (well neutral for SN crews of a Canadian team vs a US team game) or other team crews they might mention it once a period but in a situation where it makes sense (switch in momentum, stop the bleeding, a really good shift, etc.).

Identity line, because we've already got a better name for them. I've yet to hear a nickname for Kaprizov I really like.

I haven't heard one I like for Kaprizov either. I'm just happy Walz(y) hasn't been calling him Kappy, Kapper, Krillize, or any of his normal nickname gotos. I'm actually supersized he hasn't been calling him something like Krill-zee Kap-zee. ⬅️ I should probably delete this just so he doesn't get ideas. :scared:

Kap’s birthday is 4/26. The 426 Hemi is a legendary racing engine.

I got that racing engine part. But it still makes no sense to me because well; this isn't go fast checkered flag sport, the hemi is just a domed cylinder head/combustion chamber, and it was only around for 5 years (this part might be fitting).

A better engine comparison imo would be be the Chevy small bock V8 (now the LS). Small, powerful, multiuse, reliable, etc. No, I'm not a Chevy guy, but I grew up in a GM factory town.

I still like Capri Sun but it never caught on

It would probably work better in a warm and sunny market: FL, AZ, NV, etc.

Too much dark, cold, and gloomy during hockey season for the traditional hockey market teams.

Capri Sun is a juice beverage for children

I know, but to me it lacks the secondary context it could have with a team like AZ. Nobody talks about "sunny Minnesota."

Completely OT but AZ needs to get a player from London (I guess anywhere England would work) just to use the London Bridge that is in AZ as a backdrop for photos.

LMAO, nailed it.

I suppose if we're going to name him after a beverage...

McGolden? Too bad he's not Irish.
The way things are going it might end up being too on the nose. :soap:
Many will say DANO only came up with the nickname after Kaprizov left. Only the believers will know him to be a prophet.

Hartman had 33 even strength goals last year. What’s our biggest problem as a team? I’m excited for his return.
Even playing badly this season he had 5 points in 9 games. He'd be 4th on the team in points behind Kap, Boldy, Zucc if he was healthy. Hartman was bad in comparison to his season last year but still several orders of magnitude better than what we've been dealing with.

He's also one of the only right handed shots on the team

JEE?

Agree that he has to be better than Steel. I wonder who will scream louder (in frustration) when Steel is moved down to Boldy's line, Boldy, or me?

I think people need to move away from the notion that you can win without a top 5 pick. No team has won the Stanley Cup without picking in the top 5 since Boston did it a decade ago and even then they benefited from the legacy of Joe Thornton.

This seems reductive. What this is trying to correlate is that you can't win without an elite franchise player and elite franchise players are usually found with a top 5 pick. Kaprizov is a player you would have been happy to get from a #1 overall pick.

Don't most teams have a top 5 draft pick? Seems like it's statistically very likely for the cup winner to have a top 5 pick even if it's not necessarily a result of having a top 5 pick.

Has Minnesota won though anything with Kaprizov on the team? They would be an outlier if that happens. And until they do, we can't really say anything.

Minnesota doesn't. I don't think the Islanders either. Vancouver? St. Louis. San Jose? Ottawa? I can't look up these teams so going off memory. I'd say a quarter of the teams don't.

Islanders had Reinhardt who was traded for Barzal essentially so yeah they benefited from a top 5 pick.

Given how the West is wide open this year, I don’t think Guerin is going to be able to resist the temptation to add a scoring forward which would signal this team isn’t sniffing a Top 5 pick.

With the farm system we have, it’s likely we continue to improve (or at least plateau) the next few years so we are likely going to have to just pretend Kaprizov was our Top 5 pick.
