I thought both guys had good games on Wednesday. Domi seemed like the odd man out, besides a few segments of decent movement he was trailing the play a lot it felt like and then his stupid play led directly to a goal against.

Woll has a grand total of 11 regular season NHL games and 4 playoff games to his name. He is definitely promising, but let's pump the brakes before declaring him better than Samsonov. And quite frankly, Woll was pretty subpar against the Panthers - he was great in game 4, but the wraparound OT goal in game 3 was weak as were the goals he gave up in game 5.

Samsonov has done nothing in his NHL career to have the net be his to lose.

Again, revisionist garbage. Samsonov was 5th in the league in sv% amongst goalies who played 40+ games, and is the only goalie in the last two decades of this franchise to actually close out a playoff series. He was dynamite in game 6 against the Lightning. He also did this while playing with an obvious injury.

Not only that, despite not "playing well" his game 6 series clincher over Tampa was the greatest single game performance a Leaf goaltender has delivered in 20 years.

Granted the competition for that title is pretty weak but this team didn't slay their elimination game demons that night so much as Sammy carried them to a win while the skaters delivered their trademark elimination game no show.

Fair point. I don't think they're necessarily the best pair ... I just meant as a top 12 altogether.

I think with the new guys they should try different combinations. I think Keefe will tinker with that in game at least. He did a bit last game.

Both guys did have great games. A lot of the points came on the powerplay. That powerplay is going to be 25% minimum I think when it gets clicking. I liked Nylander in the slot. Marner down low is good for passes out front.

Domi and some of the new guys will take a bit. One thing I loved is that point where they all jumped in and stuck up for one another when that one big brawl started. It rarely happened last year and Bertuzzi is a dirt bag in the best way.
