Not a lot good with that game. Also, even though he scored, I don't get what you guys see in Gus. He gets a lot of praise and I feel like he has had 2 good games all season. Though I expect him and everyone to get at least slightly better as the season goes on.

I'm not going to attempt to change your expectations or your ambitions.

I'm rooting for this team to win a cup. In my lifetime.

You're good w blowing 3-0 leads.

Cool

I'm not
You expect them to go 82-0 and win every game 5-0. You need to get back to reality, especially with the injuries. 8-2-1 after playing 8 of 11 on the road. They were gassed. Take the point and run.

good lord....some of these takes. it's like some people have zero awareness of context and would lose their mind about the team's heart/effort over anything short of an 82-0 regular season followed by a 16-0 playoff run. even then they'd be finding things to criticize.

if only those people had their careers put on camera. i'm sure they're all the best in the world at what they do and have never made a mistake in their life, not even in the most challenging of circumstances where multiple things out of their control occurred to make it that much harder. bunch of kim jung il's here apprently...everything they do is perfect...even shot an 18 the first round of golf they ever played.

seriously...calm down. this team has guts. seasons are long, some nights are stacked against you. anyone that can't appreciate how big even getting a point out of this game was simply doesn't understand hockey.
If they lose in reg & don't blow a 3-0 lead I'd agree

You are handed 3-0 & blow it?

That says a lot about your "team"

@PuckLuck3043 this is for you also

Some red flags that persist from previous iterations of this team, but still hard to be upset at 6-0-1 in our last 7, Fox, Chytil, Goodrow and Igor out, and having played a rough stretch of schedule during that span.

At the same time, some things we’ve known to be true continue to be true. We suck at 5v5 and really have no play drivers. Panarin has been much revived this year but we’re still PP warriors. We desperately need a top six “make shit happen” guy. There is just no real decisiveness and willfulness in our lineup. Fox, to an extent, but damn if he just had a bit more dynamic speed. There are a lot of players (not a LOT but most teams have 1-2 and some have a handful) who just don’t really take no for an answer. Not all of them are mega stars but even guys like Larkin, Hintz, Suzuki, etc. will wind up with speed and TRY to drive right down Main Street several times per night. And more nights than not they end up on the score sheet. They may fail all night but they just keep coming and challenging and daring you to stop them. That is, and has been, what NYR have missed for so long. Guys like that (or a tier above - Hughes, Makar, MacKinnon, Kaprizov, Matthews, etc.).

Additionally, obviously, we know that Fox and Shesterkin mask a lot of our flaws. We’ve had a good start, with more structure and generally I’m happier about this team than I was at the same time last year. It does feel a bit more cohesive. But, even tonight with Shesterkin out, a pretty damn strong performance in net is the only reason we stole a point. That we scored 4 is damn near incredible. We got more than doubled up on shots.

In general it feels like a small step in the right direction so far, but another year where the kids don’t take a step to become that willful offensive player is another year it becomes more likely that we have to consider a bigger shakeup to take a shot with Fox and Igor.

I was slightly optimistic about Kakko heading into this year but he’s been about as bad as you can imagine. Sure you can try to blame his linemates but just look at him individuall and there’s nothing there. Doesn’t forecheck well, inept off the rush, doesn’t make an impact as a net front/screen presence. On a line with Kreider and Zibanejad that 3rd player has to be able to facilitate the puck, he doesn’t.

So long as the year ends and he has around 40 points, I won't complain.

But if he regresses? At this state? Could be time to cut ties.

First ten mins good.
Stupid penalties though. That turned the game. Put the rangers back on their heels for long stretches.
Quick was huge. The goals he gave up were mostly due to defensive breakdowns.
Also having three new guys in the lineup hurt. I think excuses for this one are reasonable.
Can’t really argue with the officiating but the rangers - including the delayed penalty- were short handed for about ten more mins than Minnesota today and there’s knock on effect even if the penalties are killed.
All in all I’m unhappy with the match but take the point happily.

Tissue paper soft. Never stood up for themselves, just got annihilated and took the body shots like an AV team without the counter attacking.

"Top" line is embarrassing. Kakko and Zibenajad both actively look to give up the puck or never get it in the first place if they might get an owie.

Can't win with guys like that.
